AzH

"would you like to sponsor person X who is having their legs waxed?"

"uhm, no, because i don't believe in encouraging sadism in the work place."

:) my hero.

congrats AzH. this is almost like dodging the draft...almost.

anyone ever see the Jim Carrey movie Liar Liar? its where he cant lie for 24 hours. Fletcher (Carrey) is walkin by a bum.. yea:

Bum: Sir, can you spare a little change? Fletcher: Yes I could. Bum: Well, will you? Fletcher: No. Bum: Why not? Fletcher: Because I believe you will buy booze with it. I just want to get from the car to my office without being confronted by the decay of western society. Plus I'm cheap.

for some reason, your adventure reminded me of the quote. :p

AzHthe BBC Children In Need appeal is an annual fundraising event here in the UK, doubtless other nations have a similar 'thing'.

today, i attained a moral victory. now, don't get me wrong, i believe that charities do a lot of good work in the world, but i managed to escape without donating a single penny to 'the cause'.

i'm very proud of this achievement because i work in an office where every single shitty event is used as an opportunity to fleece us out of money.

we had raffles, and sponsorships and all sorts of inane shit. i did everything in my power to avoid participation.

"would you like to buy a raffle ticket?" (this was on wednesday, thursday & today)

"erh, no, i don't gamble."

"would you like to sponsor person X who is having their legs waxed?"

"uhm, no, because i don't believe in encouraging sadism in the work place."

"would you like to make a donation?"

"err.... how does 'no' suit you? i haven't got any change."

"would you like to buy a cake?"

"sorry, i'm dieting."

any excuse i could think of i used and i survived 8 hours at work without making a single donation.

i'm satisfied with my performance. just thought y'all might like to know how much of a meany i am. :)

 You're my hero too--my role model. :D
