A last-ditch effort to keep afloat maybe, or they went bankrupt in under a month?

Killer Kyle;4773528I never heard of Frys. We have Circuit City and Best Buy, so since Circuit City is going away, we're stuck with Best Buy, and they're starting to suck.

I have one near my place , they're pretty large (much bigger than the standard Best Buys) in terms of the stuff they offer. Thing is they're only present in the West Coast in large numbers, with a few stores scattered across the Southwest and Texas (according to their site they have some in Indiana and Illinois now). They're not a national contender like Best Buy or Circuit City, more like MicroCenter in regards to how widespread they are.

The CompUSAs near my area shut down a while back, and with Circuit City gone that leaves Best Buy with little competition.

Circuit City I didn't really go to that much unless I was going around for deals. I did buy my camera there along with a TV though. I'm guessing what helped them out was that Best Buy I believe hopped onto the Video Game market with more commitment than other retailers other than just the usual hardware, and that helped them to solidify their niche.

I didn't expect for them to go bellyup like this though. I thought they would reorganize like KMart did, but I guess that's that. What sucks is the ones near me (I had two) didn't have many extraordinary liquidation deals.

I'm just wondering how Circuit City bit the dust before Radioshack.

I don't think there's a circuit city in Alaska.. so it looks like I'll miss out.

In my financial accounting book, they always compared financial reports of Best Buy and Circuit City. and they were very different. Best Buy chose a lot of good store locations and that really helped them boost revenue up over the years imo. There were also a lot of inventory differences between the two if I remember correctly.

Fry's rules.

Perhaps they can buy up the old Circuit City stores and replace them with new Fry's stores. Long live the Fry's empire!

 Comissar you just reminded me of Comp USA they went out a few years ago before shit hit the fan. I bought my first no shit computer game from them back in 2001....I believe it was the great game Max Payne for PC.

It's weird, because they just opened up a brand new (about 2 months ago) Circuit City a few blocks from my house in Houston. All seems like a waste now :/

All these responses and no one is talking about any great deals they've gotten in the liquidation sale. Looks like CC going to have to bend over another notch and go lower than that 30% off they're advertising.
