I found this documentary about the training of Finnish Navy combat divers, maybe someone is interested. Actually it was on TV several months ago, but I didn't have the time to watch it then and forgot about it until today, it is in Finnish but I hope it is fun even if you don't understand anything. :p

As an introduction the combat divers are our best navy forces (but much fewer and thus inferior to the really cool coastal jaegers ;)), and one of the three special forces in the Finnish Defence Forces. It is also one of the few trainings that are completely voluntary, and with actually a lot more volunteers than needed.

The documentary is in three parts in chronological order, all about 45 minutes long. If you don't have the time to watch all and don't understand the language, start with the last one as I found it more visually interesting than the others. (If you like naked men the first one probably is the best though...) The first one is mostly about basic training, the same that all troops get, just a bit harder than most and with a few swimming additions. The second is a lot of diving, and the third has more advanced things.

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3

Enjoy. :lookaround:

If someone happens to have links to other similiar documentaries I'd be glad if you'd post them here. :)

The advertising for the military was so obvious at times i had meany good chuckles out of it. It isn't half bad show, some of the underwater practise sessions were great. ;)

Good point, don't watch it and think it will be fun or kewl or anything like in the film in the military, because it really isn't.

Otherwise it wasn't too unrealistic IMO compared with anything similiar I've seen, the guys who become battle divers obviously are more motivated than most others and perhaps don't whack their heads in the ground, puke or cry that much. And nobody would want to see them cleaning anyway.

I don't have the time to watch those at the moment but I guess I can post a short 2 min video:

This was at the Swedish battle camp 2006 in Stockholm about one week ago (I wasn't in Stockholm at the time :'().

Scenario:

Negotiations with local war lords has failed and they have taken hostages inside the cityhall. The Swedish peacekeepers are storming the cityhall with three CV 90's.
