Yeah, the neighborhood tricks work pretty well. I've had to use them a couple times myself. What I really love is when you're speeding down the road and a cop passes in the on-coming lane but your turn or so is quickly approaching and you know that as soon as you turn, the cop won't be able to find you even if he tries to. Hahahaha. I've had that happen a couple times. That was a shitty explanation. Hope everyone understood.

Bike could have gotten away so many times, the rider was just toying with the poor fella. I know it's stupid, but I gotta feel a little good for the biker.

Oh man, this video is awesome! Did the cop car get pegged by oncoming traffic at the very end of the video?! If not, the officer did a nice 180 maneuver! Hah!

I'd love to own a sport bike, but I have a feeling that I'd get myself killed on it (by, probably, running from the cops). =p

Certainly! Get your car to your driveway ASAP, park/turn it off, and duck down. A classic trick!

Yeah man. Or just park on the side of street next to a house of some random person even. It's only going to be for a moment while the pig drives by and the person living there prolly won't even notice. It's actually sort of fun, evading the pigs. Only thing that sucks about it is that if you fail, there's a lot to answer for. Haha.

Actually, as much as I disagree with your point about sticking to the rules (if the rules are stupid, why follow them?), half of your post actually had a good point. I normally pride myself on always keeping a sharp eye out for pigs and haven't had too many problems with them because of it. Unfortunately literally the one time I wasn't looking, there was bacon sitting there watching. Always gotta keep the guard up!

The problem with going fast is having enough time to react safely if things go wrong. Even in normal driving most people don't have anywhere near the amount of space from the vehicle in front / the limits of their visibility that they'd need if something happened. Lots of country lanes near me - people go shooting round them on crotch rockets and die coming off a sudden turn or hurtling into oncoming traffic all the time.

There's nothing innately dangerous about speed - though manoeuvring characteristics do tend to change when you get up around 100mph - just the same I think that speed limits on most roads are a good thing. If everyone knew how to drive rather than just how to operate a vehicle we could do away with them but --- well lots of people think they're a good driver, lots of people thinks they can handle the speed safely - that the exception to the rules should be made for them.

And most of them are wrong.

Perhaps some of the straighter sections of the motorway could be de-regulated safely enough, but even then it wouldn't be in very many places - just the between city runs.

I've no sympathy if someone gets themselves nicked doing silly speeds.

Hah! Ah yes, I remember those days. It's always easier to evade them on food or with a bike. =p

I agree. Like I always say: It's one thing to drive fast, but it's entirely different to drive fast and know how to do it properly (maintaining safety by being aware of your surroundings, not taking sharp turns, and so forth). Look at the Autobahn - high speeds are extremely common, and yet, the number of traffic accidents is remarkably low. Hmm.

Knowledge of the law is one of the most powerful benefits of society. When I was doing a legal-related job in the Marine Corps, I was nearly untouchable because I knew what I could get away with, what could or could not be done to me, and how to fight bullshit.

Even at the most basic level, get a copy of the state vehicle code book and penal code book. They are a few thousand pages long but you could skim it and mythbust alot of things yourself.

It's funny cause, while I'm definitely a speeder, I totally agree there. Even when I get in trouble, though I may get really pissed off, I recognize in the back of my mind that the cop was within his rights. Unfortunately that's not always the case. I got a 14 over ticket once when I was driving the limit just because the piggy had a bad day. Heh.

On food, eh? Haha.

@ Nitestryker, that's a good idea. I may just do that somewhen.
