I'm using the SDK's Model Propert Editor to make some changes to a ship in my inventory. While testing the changes I ran into a odd problem and have been unable to solve it. Hopefully, someone out there can provide some insight. Anyways... on to the problem...

Using Quickbattle I command the ship I am changing and fire on the exact same ship set as a friendly (so it doesn't move or fire back) so I can test out firing arcs as well as damage icon placement. So I move my ship behind the target vessel, target the port impulse engine, fire, and end up destroying the port warp drive!

I first thought that maybe this had something to do with the damage radius of the subsystem or even the weapon I was using, but I have ruled that out. This problem exists only with these two systems.

Nothing I have done seems to correct this issue. Target the port impulse, fire, destroy the port warp drive with very little damage to the port impulse engine.

Anyone have any ideas?

Only thing I can think of is that the warp nacelle subsystem on that ship is obstructing a clear shot to the impulse engine. Either that or it has benn mis-named in the HP, which is more likely.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I checked both of these out and neither seem to be the case. Both drive systems are clear of each other and outside the damage radius of the test weapon. Both drive systems are also labeled/named correctly and are of the correct type.

Is the warp subsytem a lot weaker than the impulse subsystem? It could be that your hitting the impulse engine, damaging it and the splash damage is severly affecting the warp nacelle.

Another posibility is the texture damage radius, if its too large, destroying a large enough peice of the hull, could mean the warp nacelle being blown off...

The stats for the port warp drive match those of the starboard drive. Even so, I have tried adjusting the port drive to try to correct it. No luck. I've tried adjusting the damage radius for the port drive to a really small number to avoid damage splash. Even at a 0.001 radius the drive is still destroyed.

I tested this as well by using a shuttle with a modified small radius phaser. No change. Damage the port impulse, and destroy the port warp drive with little effort.

No other systems/subsystems in the area are affected by this problem.

Thanks for your help on this, Elminster. Perhaps one of these posts will get this worked out. :)
