...just another tooth in the shark's mouth? And by that I mean a redundancy?

It seems that with every new endeavour or dream I have it always leads back to the same place, "Sorry asshole, but someone else already has that ability and is working with a team of equally experienced and intelligent people. But if you'd like to wait 20 years for an opening after 3 PhDs and 5 letters of recommendation we might consider you for the role of pastry chef in our employee cafeteria."

*sigh*...what's the point? Happiness can be manipulated in so many ways by delusion or some other way of dulling the pain of never being able to express what you think and/or feel. No one likes it and everyone is scared of new things. What difference does it make if I do something special? I'm gonna forget about it when I die anyway :\

I think I'mma take the Leaving Las Vegas route out of here.

You're gonna fall in love with a streetwise hooker shortly before you drink yourself to death?

The best way to win the redundancy scenario is to see it as an opportunity to move on to something even better before you run out of redundancy money, then drink away the excess.

Mr. Matt has made a career out of this.

Not really, no.

Look: If you sink a lot of effort into a specific field, there are going to be millions of people out there doing the same. But if you have a diverse range of interests and spread your investment across them, then there are going to be very few people who share all those things.

I am not the best at my job. But I am the only one in my job who can design posters and get them printed, write programs to solve common problems, communicate well with government agencies, run stats well enough for their purposes, and do the job itself reasonably well.

And because I can do all those things, and more besides, I start to see elements of this or that skill that I can apply in other areas.

If all you've got is one thing, yeah, you are redundant. If you've got other things... the odds that someone's going to have the exact profile of wider interests that you have are dramatically different.

Honestly, you're stuck in education at the moment - you haven't worked many jobs and haven't developed a great number of skills. I'm not having a go at you, I'm just saying... ya' don't really know enough to make the call as to what the world looks like in this regard yet.

'Tis true. I did learn a good bit of skills working with my father on the job and at home, and I'm currently learning new skills at my current job.

Interests? @_@!!!!!

If only there were a universe big enough to hold them all!...oh wait...

Heh =p

Anyways, yeah I get what you're saying it's just... young and impatient... :p

Speaking of skills: my new piano keyboard is probably the best thing my parents bought for me since that electronics learning kit ^_^

But in the meantime...need booze and people with whom to play! If anyone has L4D2 we need to schedule some coop games! <3

EDIT: I think too the biggest problem is with the range of interests. There's so many and I want to do them all (or as much as possible) and that falls back on the impatient and speculating on the future. The main areas I use as main hubs for most interrelations are: Chemistry, Philosophy, and Psychology/Business/Mechanics, and etc. It does help to come up with relations and analogies for various things regardless of subject, scope or scale (something I'm apparently quite good at or at least I spend some time doing it =p).

Yes, I think it is right to move on and be busy I think. When you are busy with something more important, you will feel the value of life and yourself. Best wishes.

The only difference is the value which you ascribe to it. Yea, one day you'll be dead and gone, but is that any reason to not enjoy life right now while you have it?
