I didn't make it!

First off I am going to say that I have drove many places, in cities bigger then mine and I have never had any problems! EXCEPT in my city! It's horrible! Everyone sucks at driving here!!! It's like they don't even know the basic rules of driving! And it's just in my city that I have had these bad experiences. Two things you should know about Saint Joseph is that one, the people are rude! and two, they have no clue how to drive! I hate it!

Getting that out of the way, I use to love to drive, even though my city is full of idiots. If I was bored, I'd just hope in my car and drive around, I loved it! But since I have been pregnant I have been freaking out about driving! It scares me so much! I am always paranoid!! Even when I'm in the passenger seat I'm scared. It's even so bad that I make my boyfriend text me when he get's to work so I know he is safe, and his job is only three minute drive from our house!

I know it's just the pregnancy, me being protective and overly worried about my unborn child and boyfriends safety.

In 2008 I got into a car wreck, the only one I have been a part of. It was dark and raining and I was crossing a intersection. A guy was speeding, hit my back end and sent me doing a 360 across the pavement. His speed limit was 30 mph and I have crossed that intersection everyday for the past two years, so where he was at when I looked and decided to cross, there was no possible way he could of reached me unless he was speeding. Nobody was hurt! But lucky for me when I got my car fixed it looked like nothing happened! Though, I got the ticket because couldn't prove the guy was speeding and I was the one that had to yield! Erm, which I did v.v Cop said he wish he didn't have to ticket me, but he had to ticket someone. In court, the judge probably felt bad for me, and I only had to pay the court fee which was like 24 dollars! There was a few people before me that had the same ticket "failure to yield" and had to pay 100 dollars. So I definitely lucked out there.

Other then that I have had two other tickets, both for expired plates, lol.

Anywho,

I too hate driving, because I lack the patience to put up with people. But why drive anyway when the train or a bicycle will get you anywhere you need to go?

I've never gotten a speeding ticket... Surprisingly. I'm not a huge fan of driving, but I do it because it gets me where I need to be on time when I need to be there, so it's a good enough trade-off.

The thing I don't like about driving is that there are idiots on the road that seem to not give a shit about anyone but themselves on the road.

I can walk to work and class though, and do ride my bike there on occasion due to the insane price of gas. lol

I have a lovely little Clio; my second car (the first one got hit by a tree and ended up on the roof). I wouldn't say I enjoy driving, nor do I dislike it. I live only 2/3 miles from my workplace, so if the weather is dry, I'll cycle. Helps the planet, and it's a bit of extra exercise too. I also find that cycling to work helps wake me up that little bit more.

Having a car, and being able to drive, for me, is all about convenience. I'm lucky if I actually drive my car more than once every two weeks. I just don't need too. All my friends live local, my place of employment is local, and if I want go get out for a couple of hours, I'll usually favour the bike over the car, that, or the good-old fashioned feet.

I'm glad your little accident didn't cost you anything though (in terms of your health at least, I can't imagine how your car must have felt afterwards). I would agree that there are too many idiots on the roads these days, people that don't know their highway code, people that have no respect for it (this would specifically be people who drive on their mobile phones).

As both a cyclist and driver too, it amazes me how little car drivers seem to be aware of cyclists. If I'm driving and come across a cyclist, I'll give them plenty of room and wont get up their ass about it. If I'm the cyclist however, it's a completely different story for I shouldn't be on the road.

I love driving, I often do it when I need to relax. I know a lot of people who don't drive say it's because of crashing; but when you are in control of your own vehicle and aware of your surroundings (other drivers, people, etc), you shouldn't get in an accident. It's different if it is weather related (I've had a few run-ins with black ice this season, but RAV4's are good at giving black ice the finger =p).

So yeah, I'm often driving people and myself around, just because it's fun. Just don't drive with high or drunk people, you're a dumbass if you do and probably should get in an accident to teach yourself a lesson!

Never a ticket. I find it boring. It's too slow. I want it to be like podracing. Never been in an accident, though have been in several-almosts, when some dumbass does something stupid like try to change lanes into you on the free way. I, as Lindale, prefer bicycles and trains. Far more relaxing.

Never gotten a speeding ticket, or any kind of ticket for that matter, and I drive quite a bit. Hopefully I keep it that way. :lulz: I drive both because I have to and because I want to, I enjoy my pickup on road and off, even though gas prices are royaly fucking us right now. I'm with Schofield, I find it relaxing and enjoyable. Nothing like kicking up some mud or flying down the highway.

Sadly my city doesn't have a train :[

As for bicycle, there are some people that ride them here. Normally on local trails or on the roads that aren't that busy. Our main road here called the Belt, is extremely busy! Pretty much everywhere you want to go is on the belt! Even most roads off the belt are extremely busy as well. There are no sidewalks on the belt and only a few on the roads that connect to the belt. It's a little to dangerous to ride a bike in most places here in my city. I think people are too scared! Which I don't blame them, drivers here are horrible and don't pay attention. Other then that our summers are horrible and humid and our winters are super cold and we normally get tons of snow (but this year was strange, only snowed once like a inch and was gone the next day).

So a lot of us have to drive :/

Oh, I guess I did have an accident. A car turned into me while I was on my bicycle. I flew like a mother f*ckin' bird.

Nothing worth mentioning.
Speeding tickets?

None so far. I always obey the speed limit.
