Scored big today after my 4.5 yr old ViewSonic CRT monitor conked out last night. I took advantage of the E-Cycle program lots of businesses are involved in now and dropped off my dead ViewSonic G220fb without paying the recycling fee. They even gave me a Dell P1230 same size as mine for free! It also has Sony's superior aperture grille vs the Invar shadow mask mine had. Only difference other than that is it's limited to 1920x1440 res vs the G220fb having a bit higher res, but it refreshes just as high at the res options it does have. I never went above 1600x1200 with my G220fb anyway. Overall I'm actually better off. I thought this was a government sponsored program but it turns out the manufacturers are backing it because they want you to get rid of the old and buy new. Lots of places are just giving these away due to lack of space or ability to sell them vs LCDs.

So now I can breathe easy. This one only has to last me about 8 months until I can build my uber i7, X58, DX11 gaming rig.

I'll have to see if there are any programs like that around here. My CRT is now over eight years old, and since I got my laptop I've noticed it's started to really show its age.

Yeah, I used to have to pay tons for all of my old electronics. Eventually, I just said "to hell with it," and left all of my old electronics in the trunk of an old car that I no longer wanted. So when the auto guys came and took it away, they got a lot more than what they bargained for.

No questions asked thus far, so I assume it's all good. :)
