I know this might be tricky, near impossible, but I had a thought about a Warp Core Ejection Mod. My thought was, after being targeted on my warp core - and heavy damage sustained - it could be ejected leaving me with only my reserves to finish the quick battle. It:d be exciting because you would really have to balance your remaining power... assuming your ship survives the warp breach blast!

Just a thought left to those who are far greater modders than I...:uhm:

Why stop there, why not mae it so that it can be used as a weapons, something that could take out a few bug ships, :naughty: . The the enterprise was suposed to be able to fire its naccels so they were like big ole weapons, but it was cut from the series as they didnt have enough funds. But anyway your idea could work but i think it would require a lot of effort and time. The romulans would have to have a different effect (different powe source), Klingons wouldnt be able to fire torpedoes with out it, (and they shouldnt already when its disabled) as there torpedoes take Anti mater from there core directly. DS9s work on fusion genorators, that would have to be figured out. Erm the ejection would take a lot of graphics and would require a totaly new AI Sysetm for all ships (unless you make one that edits them all) as the AI wouldnt know what to do with the feature.

If you did eject it the the enemy ship should be able to target it and blow it up, causing damage to you ship, just like in the show, youed haved to have a system which would alow to u to eject it, but that got to be a targetable system other wise you could last twice as long in the game wich wouldn'y be fair on the old computer now would it.

Heres another thought you could tractor it and deploy it like a mine, against lets say a CUBE!!!, tatics my good friend, now that would be interesting.

hi, you guys know what i was thinking of? i swear i was thinking of a galaxy star ship that The saucer section can be seperated form the warp drive section. damn that would be awsome but i can't mao that is the problem if any could make it that waould be kool:rock:!

adding ships are easy, but making a warp core ejection is not that easy, but i know how i could make it as a weapon. But firing it, and not hitting a ship to make it explode is gonna be tricky

Well that would be good, however as i said you'ed have to make it so that it would have different effects, like the romulans would either suck ships in or they wouldnt be able to eject, of the klingon torps no fireing. still then theres the question how do you use it as a weapon efectivly, will you have enough power to keep you ship going for those important few seconds. maybe you should be able to take the last of the power out of the core and recharge your main power and back up to there full, still you wouldnt last long with out power of the core,

What if it was filed as a one off weapon the replaces the warp core (in other words make the real on so it cant be damaged) and then put the fake weapon one in its place with the same effect and when you eject it, make it so that it damages the ship (im think platanum wave style) brining the core off line or to the brink of destruction so that it no longer produces any power at all, that way it would give the same effect, would that be a good way of doing it, then you could also use a wapon file as the cores design, im sure that ive seen some black hole torpedoes around here, for the romulans they could be adapted. This would also work for the klinons as they could have torpedo system destroyed by ejecing the core as well as disableing the real warp core,

and so that it could be droped, with out firing, why not have it deploy like a mine, or a decoy beacon (im geussing here), then you could really make it realistic, you could tractor it as well, one shot and it could go bang, youed have to switch carmra angles but it could work

I think the best way to deploy it would be through the shuttle launching framework. Have an option for 'Eject Warp Core' and then just click launch to do it.

Scripting it so that the Warp Core dissapears from the Hardpoints (without destroying the ship as well) would probably be nigh on impossible.

The best approach would be to set the warp power system to zero power.

I know how to make it so the warp core does not explode when its destoyed, so when it is you only have youre batterys left. So i would like to know if some one could make a model of a warp core, texture it. Because if you could make one close to scale with the ship i believe i can fire it out of a topedo tube( i know they don't do it in star trek but it is a idea) then you could make it look like you ejected the warp core. So is anyone up to the task of making the model, the textures and giving it to me and i'll see if i can make the weapon script.

Hey all - thanks for all of the interest in my idea. Just a few thoughts in response of my own. The graphics of a warp core could be 'mocked' by using a modified white photon torpedo which has no tracking and a very slow speed. The shuttle launching framework is already in use and would help. The way to overcome the ship's response to losing its warp core and NOT being destroyed completely could be to increase the WARP CORE repair rate to GOD SHIP style and the ENGINEERING POWER GRID display to 1% AFTER the new WARP EJECT button is pressed. I'm not sure on the principles of FOUNDATION and the MOD PACKAGER, but it has interested me since I can drop any old new ship into the game and it can rewrite the last FOUNDATION file without deleting old ships. I confess I don't know much about BC, but I was hard core with the ARMADA games and would've loved a MOD INSTALLER for ARMADA 1...

Dunno, just keeping the dreams alive. Cheers for everyone's input. :uhoh:

i dont think i can make a script because i dont know any thing about the weapon scripts to do it so if some one would like to make one go ahead but if some one can make the textures and model ill find a way to make it work. i just might through it out a probe launcher.
