http://www.eon8.com/ This is not an advert, it's a topic of conversation. I don't know a great deal about the site in question. So, basically there is a website on the internet located at eon8.com. Very little is known about the website, however it has been up for quite a while now, and has a counter, which will end at midnight on 1st July 2006 (tomorrow) on the east coast of the USA.

The website does not state what it is. Nobody knows who is behind it, and nobody knows the username and password for the "project" pages.

The website is riddled with code numbers and there are various other very, very strange oddities with this website, including a very strange referal blocking system and certificate. The bottom of the page reads "Project Status: X13600 Imminent" at the bottom, and if you press CTRL+A on the page, you see a bunch of strange code numbers at the bottom.

http://eon8theinvestigation.ytmnd.com/

I know it says ytmnd, but it's actualy a good summery of the website and all the oddities surrounding it.

So, all this being said, if we put "hoax" asside for a moment, and assume that this website is legitmate, what do you think this is all about? I'm very curious one way or another, myself.

Discuss.

I've heard about something like this, but never really checked it out. Seems really interesting, but whether or not it's a hoax, I can't say, and if it isn't, I can't say for sure what the countdown's for. Perhaps, as they say, cyber-terror attack, or something completely different. To be honest, I have no idea -- I love this kind of stuff, though, when you don't know much about it. Hopefully it's something other than a prank.

The website behaves really oddly anyway;

eon8.com

Warning

You are accessing this site from an UNVERIFIED HTTP REFERER. The site you were referred by has been recorded, and has been queued for a security audit by ES-12.

I think most people's theories is that it's some kind of virus launch or cyber-attack. Others say it's put there by a Scientologist group.

If it was anything serious it would have been hacked to death by now, and turned into some myspace suicide parody.

Hm, well, as nobody knows anything about this site, and I'm not that good with codes (:p), I can't say anything spectacular on this.

However, this is certainly interesting. But I think it's just a fake. It's just the mystery behind it all... I don't think it'll do/launch something. Well, I hope not.

What is with the military/CIA accessing the site though?

Sh0wdowNHopefully it's something other than a prank.

If it is a virus, I don't want my computer to be fucked.

Ahhh the memories.

(PS It's not responding when I try to load it)

This is, from Danny's description, reminding me of Save The Bees thing about the Halo series.

we'll see what it is at 12:00 EST midnight.

Edit: It appears that the timer is syncronized PERFECTLY (well within a few miliseconds) to my cell phone. Something fishy.
