Well, I know I shouldn't be the one to be saying this because I haven't been on the filefront forums too long. But on forums where I am an elite and or moderator I usually post this message for everyone to see. "Why Are People So Mean To Me? :'(" or Guide to Being an Accepted and Respected Member Written for today's working n00b! (Subtitles for those of us who are literate!)

You've been complaining a lot. (I hear more and more people around the forums asking the same question nowadays: Why are people so mean to me?)

Hate to tell you, but it's mostly your fault. (We know it hurts your feelings. You're a new member, and I hate to break it to you but the problem is almost always caused by the same lack of understanding on your part.)

You don't have any street cred 'round this hood. (What you need to understand is this: Respect is NOT granted instantaneously. Respect is EARNED.)

You been steppin' up on the OG's round here. (You do not show proper respect to those who were here before you.)

You make us gotta beat you down. (If you come onto these forums with an arrogant attitude or a disregard for forum protocol, people are not going to respect you. People who do not respect you are going to be mean to you. Personal insults are against the rules, but that does not stop anyone from not liking you (or from showing it.)

Yo, holmes, lemme hook you up with some know-how. (I can hear you asking, "What can I do to fix this problem?" Let me tell you.)

-Yo, try shuttin' yo' mouth once in a while. (You don't need to post in every thread. Good posting comes from quality, not quantity. Take time to think about and proofread each of your posts before hitting the Sumbit Message button.)

-Give props to others before yo'self. (A little humility goes a long way. Show proper respect to others, and you will receive respect in turn. Glorifying yourself usually causes others to disdain you. Also remember that just because a 'vet' does something doesn't make it acceptable for you to imitate. We have earned privileges that you have not. Also, you may well have misinterpreted the subtleties of the true meaning of an action. Until you are familiar with the members, it can be easy to do.)

-Try talking like you're literate. (Grammar may not be required, but it helps reveal intelligence. You will get more respect if you are able to clearly and concisely express your thoughts. I will repeat this because it is incredibly important: Proofread each and every post you make before submitting.)

-Follow the rules. (Breaking the rules doesn't end with a little fine of your fake money. It also saps your resources of respect. No one likes a spammer.)

-Above all, listen to the mods and admins. (You don't have to agree with what they say, but the mods (well, most of them ;-P) have earned their place on the team. Usually, when they tell you to do something it's for your own damned good. Pay attention. Take notes if it's needed. Understand before you react. Try to act like a civilized human being.)

Give it a shot, and maybe I'll stop having to lay verbal slaps to your bald-ass n00bie head. (Follow these basic tenets of posting, and soon you'll start to gain some respect 'round these parts. Give it time.)

It should be Forum Manifesto! Forummers of the World Unite!

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Cooters on fire off the shoulder of General Discussion. I watched spittle-flecked posts glitter in the dark near the Pub. All those moments will
