i had to go to the dmv today to get my permit. we started waiting around 9:30am and didnt get help till 11.the best part though is the birth certificate i brought was a souvenior from the hospital but it still had everything on it and still the lady said they need the real one and couldnt do anything about it. i have to get my real birth certificate from some place. im glad i waited like 2 hours for nothing and whats really annoying when your waiting is the people who bring their little kids that get impatient and start crying

One time I went down to register a vehicle I just bought to replace the other one that broke down. It was from out of state, so the attendant had to come out to check the VIN# for records.

Just as we got across the lot, this dude ran a redlight and smashed into a State Trooper! Nobody was hurt, but that was messed up.

lol i remember the first time i went to get my permit i didnt have my real birth certificate either. it wasnt as bad though, i didnt have to wait that long. it was still frustrating though. i wonder how many people a day do that lol. the time when i came back with my real birth certificate was kinda funny too. i remember THAT because id bothered to call and make an appointment to avoid the lines. well it turns out that ONE time i actually made an appontment the appointment line was actually LONGER than the walk in line! i think you can imagine how i felt when i went in and saw that!

Well, I've always found it amusing/depressing that my local DMV (pasadena, CA) has bullet proof glass infront of all of the teller windows.

The dmvs here in indiana had a huge computer problem, people were drving with expired licence tags. They are slowly fixing it but alot of people got ticked.

Sorry to ask but what the hell does DMV stand for and what do they do?

Taking a wild guess seeing all this stuff about cars I would say it must stand for something like "Department of Motorized Vehicles" and it taking care of permits and lisences and stuff?

CORRECT!!!! Now for your prize: 100 bars of gold!!!! I know its not exactly a DMV story, but when I was in Drivers Ed, one of the students accidently forgot to put the car out of drive when they got out to fix a cone. Needless to say, the car went off without him, but fortunatly, the car just went around in circles for about 20 minutes until a brave police officer jumped on the car, opened the door, and put the car into park.
