There doesn't seem to be a correct section anywhere within the Info Desk, so I figure the General Discussion is the next best place for this. Here's hoping it's read.

Advertisement:

Alakazam;5427939Not sure if this should go here, but I wouldn't mind some more advertisement of the forums throughout the actual FileFront Network. It's no secret that 'our' community has shortened over the years. Would be nice if the forums were a little busier again, and I think, with enough initiative, people (administration) could advertise around a little, bring in some fresh faces, get the forums (and general network sites) moving again.

Just a thought really, not sure if it belongs 'here' but as this thread is asking what we'd like to see added to the forums: I'd like to see more members. :)

Unless I'm mistaken, there appear to be more people elsewhere (such as Strategy Informer and modDB) than there are here. It's all very well popping the network on a Google search, but isn't there anything else that could be done to grow our little community? This place used to be buzzing, it isn't as much now. I'm aware we've lost a lot of strong members (due to various reasons), but for such a community to continue, don't we need new starters to join up, else you'll get to a point where everyone leaves, and nobody else knows of this place, thus don't join.

Also, whilst I'm here, do the top dogs around here still look at the "What would like to see added / removed from the Forums?" thread? Seems there is a lot left unanswered there as of late.

Completely agree with you. I know I only joined in 2008 and went inacitve for periods of time but everytime I came back there was less 'regulars' each time.

I think that there needs to be more ads than just on the main page, maybe not pure ads but some publicity somehow would be nice. We have a HUGE members list with only around 2% actually having more than 10 posts....

I agree with everything said above me. Advertisement is the key. If we don't start getting new steady members to replace the old ones, I don't think there will be much left of this forum in 5 years from now.

I don't know. It's kind of nice to return to the small community feel we had back in the day, even if most of the regulars have left or drastically cut down their attendance.

Besides, we all know where the priorities of our illustrious owners lie. And they're not forums. We're lucky to have a link on GameFront's homepage at all!

(P.S. If n0e leaves any disparaging remarks about my cynicism, please refer to my previous cynical posts on ownership transferal :p).

It is nice to have a small community-to have inside jokes, get to know each other and to be recognised but we only really get a new regular(who will post for a couple of years) like once a year at best.

Granyaski;5435541We have a HUGE members list with only around 2% actually having more than 10 posts....[/QUOTE]Yeah, this is true. There are a lot of members with too few (or no) actual posts. Obviously there are reasons for that, but to think they outweigh the actual posters; quite disturbing.

Pretty much my thoughts on the matter too.

You'd still get your main community, the people that have been here a while and so say know each other. You'd still get the inside jokes too, just the place seems... well, it's quieter now, obviously, and it's nice to be able to log on here every other day and reply to a post, other than to see that you were the last person to post. =p

As for the guys at the top, these forums should be just as much as part of Game Front / File Front as any other aspect of the network. Speaking of which, Game Front / File Front, which is it these days?

StrategyInformer is a very bad example to use in this context; it's nowhere nearly as active as this place. It's nearly dead, and will even be more than that now that the imported C-Online members have established their own little place. At least, as far as my knowledge goes.

But regardless of that, I do agree on the point you're trying to make.

I've been wondering the same thing. Have been throwing some suggestions here and there, and all of them were left unanswered--the recent ones anyway.

I agree that it is nice to have a small community, but it would be nice to have a few new members that really become involved. :D

Kyrillix;5435657 But regardless of that, I do agree on the point you're trying to make.

I was going to say, the day strategy informer has more members than here I will eat my hat!

Maybe if the forums could be integrated more with the network sites then you may find more traffic from the network sites coming on and using the forums on a more regular basis.
