That's amazing, we've never done that before when we get the photos of the live ones, always been those dumb rotting ones :D The ocean is truly the great unexplored, the only place where something that big can be so illusive, really makes you wonder what we havn't found down there yet . . .

We discover thousands of new ocean-dwelling species every year. Problem is, a lot of them are thought to live on the sea-bed, too deep for any modern submarine or robot to dive. Hence, they go un-noticed.

Rookie_42Whoa. Big. But not the biggest

that is true, they believe there are even bigger species, they just havent been photographed yet. cant wait until the video of this one is released though , they dragged that thing for over 4 hours until it let go and managed to capture a tentacle

Wow, intresting to hear they finally caught a giant squid on tape. I wouldn't want to have that thing "sucking" my toes :p.

Rookie_42...too deep for any modern submarine or robot to dive.

Yeah, and if we do get one, it's a struggle to get it to the surface due to the pressure down there (fish could actually explode).

But, wow, those squids are HUGE.

The Contender i am never swiming in the ocean again.

Unless you are a sperm whale and can swim hundreds of meters down, I don't think that would be too much of a problem. :p Now all we need is the Loch Ness monster....
