I saw a show about Google on CNN (I think that was the channel) and it said that you could text message a number and it would give you back a response. The message has to be something like: Pizza 05529 (Zip code) or Pharmacy 09923 The response will give you all the pizza places in the Zip code. If you have a phone with text messageing enabled, then send a message to G-O-O-G-L (46645). I texted it and it came back with all 3 pizza places in my area. Try it! pleased.gif

Yeah, this is one of the new features google is doing, i heard about it the other day on nbc news nightly, i think.

It's basically a GPS for stores around your area, cool stuff.

Hmm, interesting. Too bad I don't know how to work my phone (other than calling people and such), but nonetheless, interesting.

How does this work? Does it use some sort of internet phone book? Edit: You don't need a phone for this to work, you can just go to Google and do the same thing.

Like i said, it acts like a phonebook/GPS thing. You type in your address, type in what you want, send it and tada! It tells you.

That is nice...and very usefull if you hate directory assistance...

I can see this replacing phone books in 5 or 10 years...

A nice little additional function this may be, but I honestly wonder how often people are really going to take advantage of it.

There is a certain amount of pleasure to be taken in actually going out to a pizza resaurant and smelling the fumes as you order your meal.

It doesn't call the pizza place, it tells you the name, adress, and phone number of all the ones in the zip code you dialed. So then you cango there and get that pleasure of the fumes :) Its helpful if you're in a new neighborhood or whatever.
