Mass. Attorney General seeks information from Google about Street View privacy issues | StarTribune.com

So, in a nutshell as Google Street View drove past your house, so too did they attempt to connect to your wifi, which could give them access to your e-mail addresses, passwords and bank account information, search history and if you were online at the time your current browsing trend. Google claims this all happened "accidentally," but that is yet to be seen.

Pretty old news. Dunno why they re-reported it.

The guy involved was acting, or so they say, of his own accord.

Not the first time Google has tried to steal your information. (Google Toolbar, anyone?)

Google Google. Not like they haven't spent the last XYZ years hoarding search information on you.

"While many companies have ethical codes to govern their conduct, Google claims to have made "Don't Be Evil" a central pillar of their identity, and part of their self-proclaimed core values" from Don't be evil - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yeah, right... So they did have more reasons to drive all over Europe than to make some map images. They even photographed my house and yard, eventhough this road has only two houses. Well, no WLANs here.

Oh, and in other 1984 news, the new Apple Terms and Conditions now mentions using the GPS and recording your position every time you download an app thru an iphone / ipad / itouch, to gather local information on you.

Not liking the reach of technology these days.

Running unencrypted wifi is the equivalent of standing in the middle of the street with a megaphone and then complaining because someone happened to jot down what you were saying.
