Title says it all. My friend Micah and I were walking home from a boring as hell day of school and thinking about what we were going to do for the rest of the day. Of course, making a huge bonfire and burning an entire bag of tennis balls we found sounded the most appealing.

We went to his house, grabbed his metal trash can out of his bedroom (inside of this trash can was a rubber cylinder that actually caught the trash. it had a steel exterior and we simply removed the rubber part.) and placed it on top of his gravel driveway. We then piled up a ton of dried leaves and twigs we found under his deck and grabbed a few branches off the dead tree we had cut down a few weeks ago.

We dropped a few matches into the trashcan and watched as it quickly went up in flames. The fire was probably a foot tall in just about 30 seconds. We sat there giggling about our creation and tossing the occasional tennis ball into the fire. Every ball we tossed in, a huge fire ball would sort of come up as the air pressure of the ball was released. It was VERY epic.

After about five minutes of feeding the fire to its probably 2 feet tall, 1 foot around size we noticed the trash can was changing colors. The steel became a sort of tye-dyed color and black spots started to appear on the top and bottom. The fire also started to peak out and catch some of the weeds around the kindling on fire. Next thing you know, his mom comes running out of her house screaming at us to put the fire out.

Micah does not have a garden hose so we did not have any nearby water to put the fire out with. We began piling rock after rock on top of the fire in hopes of suffocating the fire but it did not seem to be making much of a different. Micah kicked the trash can over (not the brightest thing to do) completely exposing our fire. We began stomping on the fire and the can (which completely melted under our feet) and finally we began to make progress on the fire. The soles of our shoes began to melt as we tried to put the remnants of the fire out and we had to throw some more rocks on top of the rest.

Finally, we ran inside with the rubber part of the trash can, filled it with water, and ran outside and poured it on the smoldering remains. The remnants of the tennis balls were just burnt casings.

So of course, his mother called mine and I'm grounded for the next two weeks. What is amazing is thinking back on it, I did NOT think for one moment. I really wish you all could have seen that fire though, it was pretty friggin' epic.

And that is how I was grounded within the first hour of my weekend. Around, 4:30 PM on a Friday afternoon.

Ha ha the mind of a teenager is a powerful thing. I'll bet it was a lot of fun making that fire. Like you said EPIC. Altough it was very dangerous, you could have burnt the whole neighbourhood. Good job. :bows: So what are you going to do now, sinds you are grounded?

Only 2 weeks. That was lucky. I won't go into all the maturity lark, but what you did was a stupid, if slightly amusing. Question though. Why do that if you were bored? I can think of a few things I would do if I was bored, but definately not that.

It's like the first cavemen. "Oooh, ooh, bright orange thing, woooooooo. OW IT BURN". The mind of a teenager is actually a very boring and narrow-minded thing. And fire is not epic, it's generic. I see it every day when I light my cigarette. It's boring. I hate kids. They're all so retarded and too full of hormones to clock on to that fact.

[/quote] Well, at least we weren't killing ourselves and wasting money on a disgusting habit.

Usually when we're bored we'll get the band together and jam a bit, but fire was just so much easier to do. Plus, my soundboard is a bit broken right now so jamming wouldn't be as fun.

Oh, that fire was worlds of fun. We were laughing hysterically while we tried to put the goddam thing out and going "DUDE, WHY DIDN'T WE GRAB WATER BEFORE WE STARTED THE DAMNED THING?!"

Since I'm grounded now I'll probably set some pieces of toilet paper on fire and drop them in my toilet? Nah, I kid. I'll probably just play guitar and talk to my girl.

Lol, sounds epic. Why did you use a driveway though? No carparks or anything nearby? You need a non flamable area, but a driveway isn't the best place to go.
