Nemmerle;5248647Sometimes natural selection is a beautiful thing.

As extremely pessimistic as that is, it's true.

Honestly, I don't really know what anybody would be doing around train tracks except riding a train or crossing tracks to get where you need to go.

Why the HELL anyone would be playing on a train bridge is beyond me.

I'd sort of like to know why no one seemed to have heard the train either. When you're crossing a street where I live, you pause and listen for a car before you think about crossing. You don't start crossing and then back up or run across when you see a car, because that's just stupid. From what it looks like in the picture, it's pretty easy to hear a rather large, fast vehicle on train tracks coming in your direction- that it's a rather quiet area and the "street crossing" thing would also apply to train tracks.

It's not that hard to hear a train, is it?

Why do I get the feeling that the kids couldn't hear that well? Did they destroy their hearing by blasting music through their headphones, or what?

How do you blast music into your headphones? :p

But seriously, Gravy does have a point.

I've been around a few trains before, and they aren't exactly stealthy. How did they manage not to hear it coming? Definitely a Darwin Award candidate.

God damn, really freaky to me since i go to college in Melbourne, and have been near that bridge loads of times getting to the beach. I don't know how they didn't hear it coming cus I've been biking underneath that bridge with headphones on when it passed by, and blew its horn. Nearly gave me a heart attack it was so loud.

While it was very dumb for them to not hear the train, still a tragedy that three 15 year olds were hit and killed.

while if it were me, the bridge is only 20 ft high, would of jumped in a hart beat.

How did they not jump that? I definitely don't feel bad if they were stupid enough to not jump that.

Yeah, I can understand the apprehension, but you only have to worry about sustaining serious injuries from falling onto land once you're higher than about double your height(11-12 feet fall for most people). Water's more forgiving until you get significantly higher than that. Between getting crushed by a train and smacking into water, I just can't see why they wouldn't pick the H2O option.

Darwin Awards don't count people who aren't adults in the awards, but by that age they really should have figured out that getting wet's not as bad as getting hit by a train. I'd still vote for their award.

You never know, it might've messed up their makeup.

I feel more sympathy for the dude who was smart enough to survive than the morons who died.

I jump my dirt bike over train tracks in the desert and I can HEAR AND SEE a train coming about an entire minute before it gets to me WITH my dirt bike (2 stroke) running.

I fail to see how these teenagers didn't hear or so see it a good time before it got there and just get out of the damn way. Kinda makes me realize why my mom doesn't trust me with little things when I see this level of stupidity from such developed minds. It's common sense.

I guess I'd just have to be there to see what the hell happened... All the girls probably preferred to die via Train Pwnage rather than get their iPhones water damaged and their dude friend see there nips, courtesy of a white, wet, T-shirt.
