So, I'm bed-ridden for like two weeks now.
I was doing the front splits (note: it's not a challenge for me, so it wasn't like I was asking for an injury) as part of my stretch routine before going to bed. I wasn't feeling any resistance, so I leaned forward to stretch it out a bit more, and I guess I strained the wrong muscle, and my hamstring exploded.
It was the most disgusting pop, like when you pop a joint, but it came from my muscle. It felt like someone hit me in the leg with the spiked end of a hammer. Now I am completely incapable of walking. Worst of it all, I don't have health insurance, so my mom's just stuffing me full of hydrocodone, flexeril, and anti-inflammatory pills. Plus side is, I feel like I'm floating on air as a result.
This means I'm out of the gym for quite awhile (I'm not sure how long, as I haven't had someone examine how bad the injury really is, so I guess it's going to be guesswork and hope for no further injury). It also means I need to be entertained by teh netz.
Yeah, that's a request. Don't be boring, is all I'm saying. :P
Also, anyone ever had a sports injury like this before? I'm trying to get an estimate on how long I should keep from doing kick boxing and yoga, so if anyone has any clue... let me know.

This sounds like REALLY bad luck, and a bit of bs, but i swear its not.
I was playing Bushball (im a big fan) anyway, i was running down a hill, when i got shot in the side of my knee (the part where it hurts and you just feel like falling down) well, i fell down. BUT i lost grip of my gun and dropped it, and it fired and shot me fair in the neck. But thats not all, while rolling down the hill, and getting hit by other various paintballs, rocks and what not, i got to the bottom and impailed my hand on something. I still dont know what it was, must have been a nail or something. But my point is it REALLY hurt, but hey. lifes goes on. lol

Yikes, I feel for you. Make sure you keep sitting up once in a while, even if only on the edge of the bed. If not, you'll be amazed at how fast the world is spinning the first time you sit up again. I had that after only a week or so.
Either way, it'll be quite some time before you'll be able to go at it at the same level. I'm talking months, most likely. I'm not sure at the specific advice of the doctor, but if you can, I suggest keep moving and training as much as you can, even whilst bed-ridden. It might seem useless, but it will prove useful in the long run. Very useful.
I count myself lucky that I've had pretty much no serious injuries, like broken bones or muscle problems, throughout my life. The worst medical related snafu I've ever had is my hayfever... although in my defence, it's pretty friggin' bad :D

Sounds like you've got a Grade 3 injury there.
Which is quite nasty, because if you have actually torn the muscle, you might need surgery to get the muscle repaired, and you could spend a couple of months with limited-activity.
Otherwise, it should be back to normal in a few weeks, if you keep some ice and pressure on it now.

As you know, I did have a rather bad injury last year with my leg. It ended up with me being in hospital for a few days. I was sitting doing something after my daily workout and all of a sudden I had this muscle jolt in the back of my leg (I have no idea what caused it). I then re-flexed and hit my head on the wall behind me. The amount of blood that was present was enough to make me sick (seeing as blood and I don't usually mix).
I got over it quickly as the injury wasn't too severe. As for you Jessy, all the advice I can offer is for you to take it easy for the next few weeks or so (you can have some hugs too if you like?). I'm pretty sure you'll be kick-boxing again soon enough.
