I always think they're speaking Afrikaans, to be honest.

indeed, i just learned that for my dutch course of exaam. We have a lot of colonies in the world, like curacao, bali, africa (south), suriname.. Dutch people are one of the smartest people in the world, said by Dr. Doom. They will, become the conquerors of the world..

Actually, i do think WTF?! when someone says: "hallo, alles kloek in de broek? ", but a nice "Nogal wak aan de zak, hoe hangt em bij u?" should keep the conversation rolling. But yeah, dutch is cool, flemish even more . The way Dutchies pronounce the "g" makes me cringe though, it's like they have a fishbone stuck in their throat.

Went there once, probably wouldn't recognise the spoken language, though obviously I've heard it before.

I've never heard it actually spoken, or if i did i didn't know what language it was at the time. If i see it in words i don't think "WTF?", but just that i have no idea what it means.

I've heard of it.

The pronunciation of letters deviates a bit from normal latin, doesn't it? I prefer Deutsch oder Nederlander fur mein spreche, but like, nothing wrong with Dutch.

I kinda wish I heard it more though.
