Help needed Hi guys

Im looking for some insight into the gaming world. I work for a reputable game development company and we are trying to do some research into real gamers and I felt this was an ideal place to start. This is an opportunity for you to get your feelings across and we can use them to develop better games that you want to see.

How much time do you spend gaming in an average week? How much are you willing to spend on a game? Do you like the idea of the Wii higher interaction levels and woudl you like to see more adult based content on the Wii such as Call of Duty or GTA?

Do you agree with the recent bans on some adult games such as manhunt?

I generally get around 3 hours of gaming in a day, so about 20 in an average week. As for the amount of time I'm willing to spend on a game, if you mean beating it, quite a while. =p I love long games. They make me feel like I really got my money's worth. Like the original Half-Life 2 and even the old Half-Life with all its expansions...

Personally, I don't care too much for the Wii's total immersion control system. I don't own one, so I don't really care if they get more mature content, although I've always had the impression that the Wii, and Nintendo consoles in general, were for a younger crowd.

Lastly, I am opposed to any kind of media bans, including video games. If you don't want your kids to play Manhunt, don't buy it for them. But that should be up to the consumers/parents to decide, not the government.

Hope this helps. Just out of curiosity, what "reputable game development company" do you work for?

during the week i spend about 10-12 hrs gaming, on rare occasions if im getting into the game ill spend about 20-25 hrs a week.

base line price i really don't buy no special edition game with extra content. i just stick to the game it self not unless its an expansion pack.

i could care less about the Wii i only played it a few time found some games interesting but i would not buy one.

and in believe no games should be banned even if they are to violent and have nudity. kids and parents should know better...

and ya what game development company do you work for?

If I'm playing a really fun, addicting game such as GTA IV, Call Of Duty 4 or Soul Caliber 4 I will be on the console for about 20 hours a week. If a game looks good whatever the price I will buy it. The maximum I've spent on a game is around $100 and that was when the Halo 2 was released.

As for the Wii question. No, I don't think games like Call Of Duty 4 or Gta should be released on the Wii, There's two consoles for that. The Wii should stick to the same game types as the GameCube released, only the Wii is more advanced. Without characters such as Mario or Zelda I'd cry.

Mills;4585839How much are you willing to spend on a game?
$40 max (and only if I hear the game is really worth it, won't buy a game right when it comes out, because of the giant let-down that Test Drive Unlimited and Need For Speed Pro Street were)
Do you like the idea of the Wii higher interaction levels and woudl you like to see more adult based content on the Wii such as Call of Duty or GTA?
The controller system the Wii uses is very inventive, most people see it as a novelty, but it really allows users to control your character and interact with the environment more. Before, if you wanted to pick something up off the ground in a game, it was probably "Press X to pick up". Now, it can actually be you can bend over and grab the item. It's coming close to where we'll have 2 gloves we put on instead of the controllers. I really think Nintendo can make some breakthroughs in gaming with more adult games (Like you said, CoD4 and GTA) with the Wiimote system. Instead of using the control stick to slowly and aim towards someone (with lots of jumpiness, if you're bad at console shooters like me) in a game, you'd actually have more of a Duck-Hunt like shooting experience with more active targets (not just a duck flying in an X-pattern across screen, then a dog you can never kill). This would make gaming much easier for those not accustomed to console games (such as myself, I'm a PC shooter type) and would bring more interest and realism into games. Hell no. That AO (18+) label on games is there for a reason. It is meant for the mature and well-informed. Those games are targeted to those that understand that the situations displayed in the game are serious matters and are not meant to be acceptable in society. If stores like Best Buy and Wal-Mart actually gave a damn about children and their easily warped minds, you wouldn't have kids like me buying games like Half-Life, Half-Life 2, and San Andreas well before they're 18. (I bought all 3 of these games when they came out except Half-Life 1, and looking at the dates they were released I was 11 at the time of Half-life, barely 15 for San Andreas (by 1 day), and 15 for Half-Life 2. That's America though: "fuck the kids, lets make money."

No more than £25.
Do you like the idea of the Wii higher interaction levels and woudl you like to see more adult based content on the Wii such as Call of Duty or GTA?
I wouldn't mind.
Do you agree with the recent bans on some adult games such as manhunt?

No. As long as they're only sold to over 18s, I think they're fine.

I play about 5-6 hours a week. It depends. Usually not more than NZ$50 (I don't know how prices are adjusted in the US, but that's about a good game that's been out for a year). I like higher interaction, but also I would like to see a lot more player interaction overall. For example, with an FPS, if you shoot something, it explodes. You can peek around corners, and blind-fire around said corners too. You can climb along rails, bar doors closed, etc. etc. And as long as 'adult' content is labelled as R18 or such, then no, I don't mind. In fact, I think the Wii would do a lot better with more 'serious' games, especially RPGs, I think.

I play about 15-30 hours a week. Usually not above 50$. But one game I'm going to buy Is 120$.

I don't agree with game censorship of any kind.

I coulden't care for the Will if I tried.

How much time do you spend gaming in an average week?

I used to spend 10-15 hours per week on games. Currently I play less than an hour a week due to college

How much are you willing to spend on a game?

I would prefer that the prices are kept around $50. I have spent up to $130 on the legendary version of Halo 3. I have found that lower priced games can still be great. I plan on buying audiosurf for $10 on steam.

Do you like the idea of the Wii higher interaction levels and woudl you like to see more adult based content on the Wii such as Call of Duty or GTA?

The wii is not targeted at the same audience as the 360 or PS3 is targeted at. A mature game would not sell well on a console that has many non-gamer owners.

Do you agree with the recent bans on some adult games such as manhunt?

No, however devlopers should watch what they release. Putting out a game that has you killing people in grusome ways won't go over well with the public. If they decide to release them they should stick to online distrobution to keep attention down. The public is not ready for that level of media, and putting that media out there in the spotlight won't make it be accepted any faster.
