I say keep the dial up so you have access whenever you want. Its really not that bad until you want to download a large file or visit sites with streaming videos.
A 130MB file takes around 6 hours to download on 56K at 5.0kbps, with dial up such files are best left for a overnighter (leave it downloading overnight and it will be done in the morning). so if your mainly concerned with being able to download large files, then i would go with the broadband. it would suck to only be able to use it one day a week though.
Is there anywhere else that you could have access to high speed? somewhere like a public library that has computers or something?
You can either agree with meor be wrong.

No I was just goofing around, really..
Hmm is that not possible to have both dial up at your home and broad band at your grandma's ?
Then you may, with a distant administration program, lauch your downloads at your grandmother's home from your dial up, and then just save to removable medium (external HDD, DVD+/-RW ...) what you have downloaded there on Friday evenings.
Just get broadband. Its better anyways.
