I had a beauty event I was going to today, en route is the specialty feed store that carries the specific food my cat Drake needs to eat. There was a rescue adoption thing going on with puppies in the parking lot. I went in to get the food and let the fiancé look at the puppies while I did so. Well, now I have a baby American pit bull chewing on a pig's ear next to me.

Such is life lol!

My lady is trying to get me to get a dog. She was showing me a German Shepard rescue today.

Also, I thought you already had a Shiba Inu.

Please get a dog that isn't bred to a life of pain.

It means research a little about the dog you're getting. Many dog races have been bred ad absurdum, with genetic diseases and severe health problems as a result.

Skin problems, immune system disease, blood disorders, neurological, behavioral, and sensory disorders, hearing and vision problems, heart disease, cancer...

For example, the German Shepherd's lower spine and hind legs are easily worn out and as such the race is used less and less for police duty - they last only a few years! As pit bulls were mentioned; English Pit Bulls have deformed heads and trouble breathing. The list goes on.

Speaking of cats, I apparently found a stray housecat yesterday. She's much more familiar with how a house is run, and my cats tolerate her, so she might have been dumped, I don't know. There is also a good chance she might be pregnant, which sucks because now I'm gonna have to find homes for kittens.

If the dog is ALREADY ALIVE, as in the case of that German Shepherd, you may as well give it a good home before its inevitably painful death.

Just don't breed it.

Short-sighted view. Buying a certain dog leads to breeding of more dogs of the same type. Not buying them in the first place is the only way to force them out of business. Yes, I know that's idealistic, but you have to start somewhere.

Apparently it's a rescue. Give it a good last few years then.
