We had an ice storm here today bad enough that schools let out early (A very rare occurance). At first I thought it wouldn't do much, but it really started picking up and when I looked outside a couple of hours ago everything was layered in ice. I took what pictures I could in the dark. I'll take more in the daylight if time permits. Keep in mind, this is in KY.

May not seem like much but we don't get this kind of ice here hardly ever. The entire walkway and driveway were coated in ice. The cars all had a thick layer of ice on them as well. The roads didn't seem to get so much ice on them but everything else sure did! Feel free to post any cool ice storm pics, just thought this looked really cool. I tried to take a picture from inside where it looked the coolest but it didn't come out.

I've never heard of anything like this.

We do get the occasional hail storm, but they are incredibly rare even still, and when they come by they are pussy little things that cause minimal damage.

That's pretty awesome methinks. Nice pics!

I haven't experienced an ice storm in over ten years when we lived near Portland, Oregon. The ice was a few inches thick. Luckily we lived at the top of a hill, so we weren't one of the houses on our street to be hit by errant automobiles.

In Syracuse, New York it was too cold for any ice to develop.

Where I am now, however, is expected to get six to twelve inches of snow around noon. It will be nice to see snow for a change. I miss the winter weather of Syracuse...

The university here just closed, yet right now it's only a flurry.

Last night I had guessed they would close it, but for a different reason. Throughout high school the day school closed was always the day a major research paper was due. Well, today in English we were supposed to turn in a major paper. Not exactly the best streak of luck for someone who tends to procrastinate a lot. =p

Those are the most dangerous of ice conditions, quick, heavy freezes in areas that rarely get it. You get all sorts of people not knowing the repercussions and they can get hurt just walking under a tree. Nice pics of the trees btw. We had them fairly often in Easterm Washington. The worst year was '68, snow drifts 8' high right in front of the house. Man I'm showing my age there. Can't say where I live now is any better. Lots of noobs that don't know how to drive in the snow because it rarely does.
