Yes, I'm completely serious. My friend and I were having a debate about this, and I wanted to get a few more opinions. Personally, I would go into the past and bring technology to primitive cultures, so I could influence the outcome of wars and ,ultimately, history. Mainly, I would want to have some major influence on Earth, like get a country named after me or something. Anybody else?

If I had a time machine it would have no affect at all, since anything that I altered in the past already should have had it's effect in this world, afteral *that* history already would have been set and thus could not be *changed*.

But if we would pretend you could alter the past (to in turn alter the future) or alter the future, like jack I probably would just go into the future 80-100 find out what I did and what mistakes I made and were I made the right (important) decisions and use that knowledge to alter my future.

there is nothing to understand about it  its impossible. Unless you would be able to travel faster then the speed of light, which in theory should be considered some kind of time travel...

Well, with our Current Limitations it's Impossible. The faster you Travel to the Speed of Light, the Slower you age, so it's more like "Slowing Time Down" then time travel. The closer you get to the speed of light, the closer you are also getting to Critical Mass. However, it could be possible one day. I'd go back in time to Solve King Tut's Murder, along with the Big J and the C. Although I'd like to see what my Ancestors were like in Itality all throught Time.

The closer you get to lightspeed the more dead you are, nobody could withstand that speed.

Traveling faster then the speed of light would allow is to catch up with casted lights from the past thus allowing us to "see" in the past. If we could travel much faster then the speed of light we could catch up with ancient cast light, look into it and see events that happend a long long time ago. We would not be able to alter what we would see though and what we would see would be limited to begin with.

It is a very interesting concept. If we were to theorectically be able to travel in time and affect anything that we came in contact with, who knows what might happen? Personally, I would prefer to travel a few months in the future and see what the winning lottery numbers were in a big draw and then go back and win it. That would make life a bit easier. I would also love to travel into the future to see if we make any progress as a race. We might still be pretty close to the stage that we are at now, or we may be at the point that they reached in Futurama. It would be tough for me to not stop exploring though. My biggest problem would be in trying not to affect the outcome of some major events in the past. It would be interesting to find Jimmy Hoffa, and who shot Kennedy, but that would be difficult to do without affecting the event.
