Would you give up work altogether, stay in your current job, or go do something new?

Personally I'd just set up my own business or do this full time, but I feel like I'd have to have something to do with my time, I wouldn't just be idle, you get bored too easy.

It fully depends on how much I'd won.

Less than 1 million? Not much would change. You couldn't live on that much long term these days.

In the 1-10 Million range you could probably live the rest of your life on that if you're careful and manage it properly.

More than 10 Million, you could easily live on that if you're not a moron.

Assuming we're talking 3-5 million;

I've always said that I'd just buy a majority share in the company I worked for and continue to work for it, continue to let it be run how it is currently being run, I would simply have veto power on all major decisions, and take a slice of profits every year.

Essentially, buy a directorship but continue in my current role, probably.

The first thing I would do is get rid of my student loans. Seeing as how I have never been able to get a job that even remotely uses that degree, I would turn my back on the degree, and be free to do what I want.

Next, I would invest in Chapman Guitars. Give back, if you will.

Once I did that, I would have two choices. I could move the Maryland, and become a luthier for Paul Reed Smith, or move to Brighton, and be content being a guitar tech for Andertons. I can finally do what I love, and I would never need to worry about rent, so go for it.

Remove all current debt, move to a nice-ish place in Ireland, get a driver's license and a reasonably priced car, expand my retail game collection, add the rest to savings.

Things I plan to do anyway but in a longer term.

Would you give up work altogether,

Hahahahahaaahahaaahaahahahaahahaaaaahaha!

Oh wait, you're serious?

I'd eventually forget what an office looked like. After that initial rampage, there'd be a Matt-shaped hole in the wall and I'd never be seen again.

Yacht in the Med? Traipsing around South East Asia? Being a passenger on one of the first commercial space flights? Non-stop hedonistic blow-out? All of the above? Dunno. What I do know is that I'd be dead within about 10 years, if that.

Ireland eh. Any specific part?
