It's legal to download copyright free music A\K\A public-domain music..

But songs you hear on the radio.. 99.9% chance they are illegal to download.

It's also illegal to shoplift, but it still happens.

Just because somethings illegal doesnt stop it from happening.

It's not illegal to have them on a site, but to download one from it is.

Also, the majority of the 'free download sites' give you one free sample and then make you regret it with registrations, charges, and giving your e-mail out to any advertising agency on the planet. If they charge a subscription fee, it's no longer free downloading.

The iTunes shop.

Any good high-street retailer may also sell downloads as well.

You wont find any free legal music, not if its out in the shops.

And even if they don't sell it ussually still is elligal to download. i mean I'm a fan of jumpstyle and other sorts of eletronical music. And it's hard as hell to find any decent cd's in a shop of this type of music. Mainly because, for some reason most of the music is made and listened to in belgium, The netherlands and some other surrounding coutries... And yet you can't download the music by using Limewire for instance as it still is illegal...

It's only illegal if the music is copyrighted. For example, if I wrote a CD's worth of music and sold it, but I never got it copyrighted, anyone could download it for free and nothing would happen.
