I was wondering if there was a way in which new sound files could be added to the damage report given by Saffi depending on various statuses of your ship.

It would be cool if rather than just saying a load of crap she could give Crew injuries or deaths, or give a better description.

Some sound files present for BC are harldy ever used, such as warp core breach warnings, is there a way to implement these myself?

Just curious, trying to learn a bit more about scripting...

Would it be realistic if Saffi gave 5 minute reports during a tense battle?Its a good idea but I think it would have to vary depending on whether you're in green,Yellow or red alert.:nodding:

i never used the damn thing till i started using the new nano.. cause well when ur in warp ya aint got nothin better to do.. so after a big battle keeps me from getting bored (i uped the time of warp now max time it can take is 60secs) i figured it gave more real to take longer... and it is.. but still kinda sucks waitin!

It would be better if Saffi, or even other members gave better damage updates, if you listen to the files that are available there are quite a few possible information updates that are never used enough. Ive noticed that Brex does almost all the talking, Felix should say more in mission and there must be a way to make it occur. Below I listed a few SFX files would be good if they could in some way be included.

Felix- "Forward shields are offline" Felix- "# Ships Entering System" Felix- "Switiching phaser intensity to high/low" Felix- DISTANCE INFORMATION (closing, seperating, maintaining) Felix- TARGETING INFORMATION (Why this wasnt included I dont know!)

Kiska- "Plotted a course captain"

Brex- REPAIR UPDATES (this would be loads better) Especially the re-assigning of repair teams, systems that are repaired etc.

There are loads more but I gotta go and get some chips...I know this can be done somehow. I know almost nothing about scripting, but isn't there a way in which system damage is detected, which allows sounds to play. It just seems so simple...

Anyone got any suggestions, or any new suggestions on other sound usage?

it would be nice to see a script that will play the sound file about having a warp core breach when it reaches a certain damage % (or when it reaches disabled % so its different for each ship) so that you have enough time to eject the core.

or haw about a warning when your warp engins get disabled (i dont run from batle much, honest!)

To #1 if it's scripting your interested in I might suggest the much underated AI's. From there you can do almost anything. I have a permently illumanated Warp button in MP, acheived through the AI and available in maps like the stock SolarSystem map. This (at the moment just crashes the game, bcus it still needs a destination of sorts) will alow a'real' in system warp effect (if the range justifies it) for things like Intercept, this is if/when ever I can get round to writing a custom Warp script (for the AI) to use.

Open the AI's in Wordpad and get a 'feel' for them, and follow the code back through the various modules (at the top of each file is the import bit, thats where to look) to the app file so you know how it hangs together.

And let us know how you get on ..

i did made 2 damage reports but it is not finished yet
