Hey guys names john (quick intro will get around to the official one later :P)|
But this is my first post and ive got a question for all the gamers out there.
So me and my girlfriend have decided that we would like to open up an internet lounge simple enough. get a few computers few tvs and consoles gain some computer and electronice skills and your in busniess for the most part. I can handle all that and what ever else comes my way. but now theres the brick wall in my face. That wall is my internet lounge being unique, see theres a lot around in my area but now that are really fantastic! There all just simply put meh, i need something thats really going to set me apart from the rest of them. Besides the whole get the best price and packages and deals and what not. That i can figure out in a couple hours not a problem.
So in short my question to all of you gamers and non gamers alike is what exactlly would you like to have in an internet cafe that would make you wanna come back again and again something new and amazing to say the least. ... my mom says i should put something like a mini spa in the place so it attracts more girls to the place cause the guys would come just for the girls ;) lol
Umm... well since you are from Montreal, Canada, you could host some hockey nights where people could watch the Habs and play NHL games?
You could host some gaming tournaments too, as far as I know, Montreal has a lot of talented gamers :)
Go Québec :)
Well, i know i love shops/places where the personnel is nice and social. Also, remember; Clean toilets! There's nothing worse than getting up from a good game, going to the toilet, and seeing what the guy behind you had 1 year ago ;) There's no internet cafe's or anything in my town currently, but back when there was, i loved to go there. But also remember; If the rooms have calming colors, people will enjoy it more. Good atmosphere, clean tables, and that stuff makes people want to come back.
ya for sure clean invorement not too crowded , nice deep colors and not to much lighting cause games are better in the dark :P but gotta member about your eyes and all, But as for the hockey gaming nights i could soo do that. even if i hate hockey personally i know my gf would love to be the host of that night :) so yaya but hmm ya anyother ideas guys. :)
get nice comfy chairs
For me, to be able to play games, I need a nice quiet area or somewhere with minimal noise, otherwise I can't concentrate, depending on how big the place is, you could sub divide it into areas.
Host gaming tournament nights/days/weekends is a good idea too.
baristas what exactlly are those :S and i wasnt planning on making it underground of in a cellar:P too creppy and hard to see so it would purely be word of mouth lol. But where looking for something that big spacious and something we can even make semi open like bay windows that are fully open to actually have a nice cafe seating area which would be nice for coffee and students doing homework and stuff and then have rooms with this and that in it(computers and consoles) and yes everything will be nice an comfy :) thats ideal hell ima be there all the time may as well be comfertable myself no:P and finally as for the tournaments im sooo gonna have those going on every chance i can get :) its a nice idea for getting more clientlet and everything basically just to have a great tiome :)
- Console tournaments in games such as Tekken and Virtua Tennis (even doubles tournaments in Virtua Tennis, for instance).
- High-profile Boxing/MMA nights (UFC matches on big screen, for instance) should probably draw some attention. I'd go.
- Get something flashy to set it apart aesthetically, like an aquarium of sorts, for instance (that's just my taste, I'd get an aquarium the size of a wall).
- You need something to make it a decent place to 'hang about', so to speak. If you get it to be a social point, then you've hit it big as you'll get a constant stream of regular customers. If you'd have access to a large area, you could do that by arranging for squash/tennis courts or whatnot for rent. It's not that expensive to make, however it requires a fair bit of space. Other stuff could be to make it more arcade-y, as well, with DDR machines, airhockey or whatnot.
That's what I can think of off the top of my head.
I'm way cooler than n0e (who isn't though?)

As being suggested, appeal to your audience as much as you can, make it comfy and atmospheric.
Also, little marketing things. I used to work in a cafe with a family friend, and all the chairs were this satin red, bar a single yellow one. Whoever sat in this yellow chair received a free milkshake. Many of course, didn't pick up as too why, but small touches like that keep people happy, and spread the word.
Also as Wraithcat said, don't make it feel like you're underground. Are you going for the sort of arcade-nightclub style, where it is claustrophobic and (incisively) personal? Or something more open and welcoming?
