So yeah... Dragons. I read a really cool article, from some blog, some time ago, which presented the theory of actual dragons once in history. Basically a more scientific/biologic point of view of these creatures, such as glands producing gases that would be lighter than air, thus providing them with a weight support for flying, given their (mythological) size, and other things.

I can tell you now, this wasn't some kind of presentation of possible proof to the existence of ancient dragons saying that they did exist, but more of a "what if" scenario, so I found it really interesting. The article can be found here.

What do you guys think? How about other mythical creatures?

Well, I had watched a documentary that was a "what if" presentation of dragons and it did make some sense. Like their fire, it showed them eating minerals that stayed in their mouth and when they came in contact with a gas they exhaled they produced flames. I don't know about other mythical creatures though. Perhaps the unicorns grew their horns because of the human threat and trusted maidens more because in the older times men were hunters/warriors and women were not? Note: Unicorn horns that were sold in the Middle Ages were, in fact, the left canine tooth of the Narwhal, a whale in the Arctic ocean.

Quite right!

In china medicine men have been selling bones and teeth of Gigantopithecus (a 12 feet tall giant prehistoric ape-man) in the name of "dragon bones".

Don't know if folks be doing it in the west with dinosaur bones too.

Yeah, yeah, I've heard that one before... Seems like the most logical. I just thought the article pointed out some interesting points (one of them a possible theory on why there aren't any dragon remains... Don't think anyone really payed attention to it though... >.>).

But it's a fun scenario nevertheless, IMO.
