I am going to grow my hair out. What do? :clueless:
I figure just "don't cut it" will get me pretty far, but what about keeping it neat and such? Anyone with long hair experience?

I find combing it helps.
No, seriously. Comb it. In fact, get a brush.
You may want to trim it in some areas when it starts to get messy. Just trim the awkwardly shaped parts every now and then...

Ah yes, long hair. I miss my long hair. Sadly, baldness has taken all my hair away. I HATE DNA! :madman: My hair used to be like this:
I simply would regularly trim off split ends, keep my hair clean, and eat plenty of vegetables. Also, keep from tying it back, as it puts too much strain on it. Lastly, covering it with a hat deprives it of much needed fresh air.
It is hard for me because my hair is so short in my memory

Hair looks messy as all fuck when it's still too short to tie back and there's nothing you can really do about it. It's not like cutting it back from a longer cut where you can cut it all to more or less the same line (thus different lengths). Enjoy six months to a year of looking like a ragamuffin, try not to get fired.
Oh and like Inyri says, get a brush. When using it work UP from the tips, not down from the head.
Well I have 1 month of ragamuffin down. Only 5-11 to go! =p
