Today is the eve of May Day, known as e.g. International Workers' Day, anything special you are going to do today and tomorrow? Any traditions related to it?

Here it is the Day of Finnish work, and a big day for university students, especially those who study technology, but also all workers and about the entire population. Marches, (e.g. Jesus-ones :p ) are arranged, people that have the white cap wear it, a lot of people drink in public etc.

Yeah, the 1st of May! In Germany it's a public holiday, so no school/work towmorrow! Oh, and here in Berlin it's a tradition that there are the famous 1st May-riots, youngsters against the police with bricks and teargas.

There are protests around NZ for the Youth Wages Bill going through Parliament. It's about time young people got paid more!

I have to go back to uni, but I did some activism for Earth day so I could skip May Day.

Not much, if anything is done about it here. :( "Dag van de Arbeid" it's called here, which translates to "Day of the Labour".

In England it's called 'May Day' and its a bank holiday so no work or school! Traditionally girls dance around a pole with ribbons on 'maypole dancing', but I don't think many people do that anymore.

Lucky bastards, I wish the goverment dropped a needless holiday (like pinksterren or some other rarely celebrated [Christian] holiday). Better yet would be giving us it as an additional holiday but I can't see that happening. Perhaps next year with the national elections we will get a left winged goverment who would favour making it an official holiday (read "a day off")... It would fit in the view of being more open to other cultures and views and thus trading some Christian holidays for more general holidays or holidays of other religions, not to mention it being in line with general European holidays. :)
