Taunted girl dies from fatal disease.

Even after a year, I am still whole-heartedly disturbed by what that neighbor did. I find it horrifying that someone could bring themselves to do such a despicable thing.

I am quite proud to see how these events have brought the community together. Though she may no longer be with us in physical, Kathleen deserves to be honored as the angel that she is. If anything, this ordeal should be used as a learning experience. Goodness knows, we all could learn to be more caring.

Eh. There are very few things in life that are as bad or as painful as a parent losing their beloved child. Until it happens to you, you will never know how it hurts you to watch a child die in front of you, or the screams of the mother as the doctor informs her of the loss.

Then there is the mother bursting into frightened tears as she enteres the cathedral on the day of the memorial service, and realizes why she is there.

I guarantee you all, these are events that you will carry with you for the rest of your life.

"It happens".

It's the attitude of apathy that has led the world to what it is today. While it's certainly good to be apathic nowadays, as it excerpts you from falling into pain that doesn't really concern you in the first place, thus making one a stronger person somehow, it's not the best attitude when it comes to co-existing with each other. Apathy, albeit good in specific cases, it's in my opinion one of the worst thing mankind can have, by hand with greed and evilness in general.

Though there wasn't anything one could've done at all for this poor girl and her family, I guess at least a little bit of concern and mercy wouldn't harm anyone; and it's not a little bit only what Lindale is showing, but a warm heart, which is what we all need.

On topic of the girl... It's sad indeed, but seeing where the world is going, I guess she's better on now... Wherever she might've gone (I believe in heaven), may she be blessed by the force.

Silberio summed up my thoughts on the 'it happens'. Whilst there are people dying every X in time, it doesn't excuse saying 'it happens'. It shows disrespect toward the entire even, even if you didn't mean it as such.

Like Lindale, I'm still wholeheartedly disturbed by what the neighbours have done a while ago. I hope they feel damn well guilty and may karma strike back at them twice as hard.

R.I.P. Kathleen.

I am glad to see she has so many supporters, even among the Forums. The fact that she can have such an effect on us, even from us halfway around the world, is testament to how much of a blessing her young life was. For more information on these effects, see this post. You can still be supportive of those around you, even if you do not personally know them. The greatest of blessings are when the person never knows that you were the one who did it. The family never know that it was me who put those hundreds of Euros into their bank account. All they need to know is that they needed the finances, and now suddenly, it is there. picture.php?albumid=576&pictureid=9299

Pardon me for being honest. "It happens" is completely neutral, I'm not saying it's not really sad, but these things do happen, all the time all over the world, and there's not a whole lot anyone can really do about it. Least of all us.

I do know the feeling though, I remember when this happened:

Judith Barsi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Little girl who did the voice of Ducky on the Land Before Time, she was abused by her father and put under extreme pressure and eventually shot and killed. Pretty heart-breaking if you ask me, but I just feel that it's not always good to dwell on the past. Not saying it's bad to have a memorial or offer your condolences, but I also believe that it's best to just move on and honor their memories by living your life to the fullest. That's how I do my best to live my life by.

All the best to that little girl's family and all. Fuck the person or people that taunted her. I have an extreme respect for death because I have lost quite a few people I cared about in my life. It really hurts to realize that the person you care about and are so used to talking to or seeing just isn't there anymore. It's almost more heart breaking the first time you go to work or to visit family wherever and they're not there than it is at the funeral or when you hear of their death.

All the best to all involved in Kathleen's life. I wish no wrong action upon the person who said negative things to her. I only hope that some day they learn to appreciate life as it should be.

Wow, I didn't know that about the girl who voiced Ducky. That's really sad.

This. Also I hate how we were just called apathetic, or that we didn't care.

I do know the feeling as well, I remembered when this happened:

Alberta murder-suicide survivor set for surgery - Calgary - CBC News

I went to school with one of the victims, he was a great guy. I was enraged when I found out; but that doesn't change anything. It does happen.

Showing remorse for every bad thing that happens is extremely exhausting, and it's bad for you.

We probably could have said more than "it happens", but assuming we were apathetic and didn't care is as bad as apathy itself.
