I am new to modding for BC. I've done some Jedi Knight multiplayer lvls, namely Stargate, but BC is obviously very very different. I love the game and want to start learning how to mod. I've read through BanzaiZap's Star System tutorial, but I have many questions still. I also downloaded his level pack, which has planets that are very far from each other, but still not to scale like a real star system. What I want to know... is that possible? Can I theoretically make a map of the Sol system which is scaled exactly like the REAL Sol system? Can I make planets that would really be the correct size... and lastly, can I modify how fast the starships can travel in a map? I want to make impulse engines much faster, and also find a way to warp within the same map, and not just go into a cutscene. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Well it is theoreticly possible, but you do have some problems: 1. Not anyone has intercept mods, and even with them it will be a (long) road to 2 planets alone 2. If you have played the (large) systems by BanzaiZap then you must have noticed the "shaking" problem when you are far away from the center. Apart for those it is possible.

What is an intercept mod?

Yes. I noticed the shaking problem... I would set course for Jupiter, and take a nap... wake up and find my ship shaking in orbit of the giant planet. I assumed it shaked because the game had been running for so long... could be wrong. I hear there is a mod called QB 2.2 which will allow for warping to other maps without going back into the setup screen... can one change how fast the engines propell the ship within the same map? Perhaps change the intercept speed? (if that's what it's called).

An Intercept mod let's you go faster than the standard 47,000 kph when at Intercept (Ctrl+i). Populair ones are: Dashers Intercept (get it from BCFiles under Third party scripting) And this one: The In System Warp mod by JWattsjr, get it from here: http://dynamic3.gamespy.com/~bridgecommander/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=11602&start=0 This requires registration at the board there, it is free. And your question about the QBR2.2: you can load maps to place enemies and allies on diffrent maps and warp to them, but you can't go to maps that you didn't specify. A non QBR solution are the Multi System Maps by Chris Jones and JWattsjr you can get them on the board of which I just gave the lin to. And to change the speeds of ships, that can be done in the Hardpoints, there are other threads about them (use the search option). An another way is the Custom Warp by NxDefiant (same as Defiant here, NxDefiant is at the other forum). You need the Engineering script to make it work.
