Well me and my friends have created a band but the only proablum is that we still don't have a name. I usually watch blissfully as i watch them tear each other appart over the matter. Since none of them can decide the come to me for answer - said cus i was the bassist or something - Our performance is coming up soon so i need suggestions.

After they cleverly came up with a band name with out me *Divine outcast* :uhoh:, we have started experimenting with types of music and we are in the process of making our own music. Of course styles clash and no one can decide on what type of music to play whether it be metal punk or grunge. So it falls back on me since I'm the only one who can truly read, write and have the software to make music/produce it (if you can call it that). So now the lonely bassist has to create a song and I want to pick a style to do it with. So I'm asking you people. What style should I -mainly- make?

Not metal.

Everyone in the band has to love metal for it to be good.

I was in a band for awhile . . unfortunately, it turned out the only other male in the group wanted us to be what I call girly men. The hairless, pretty, idols of teenagers who might look more like women than Poison.

Punk requires passion and something to be said, you can't just pull good punk rock out of your ass.

Metal, like EO said, will only work if everyone loves it. Primarily because if you don't love metal, you hate it.

Grunge, I'm not really familiar with the style.

Really, you're going about this all wrong, you have to pick a style you all love, not just use a random poll. Music takes passion, and if you don't feel what you're playing, you won't last long.

Well then. I very well know what grunge is. Those just happen to be amongst my favorite bands.

Hell, go for grunge, it's really one of the best styles out there.

I always classified Alice in Chains as metal, and Nirvana I never quite got figured out, but thought of it as it's own genre of metal in a way.

It's not as though there are hard and fast rules as to what class of music a song falls under. Just produce something with feeling and let your audience classify it.

The style you are, you monkey. I don't think a song dictated by people you don't know from all over the world is going to be very soulful.
