OK. So I need a media player that organizes my music and makes it easy to find it. If possible go by genre or something. Thanks

Why don't you just create folders on your desktop and put certain artists in them?

I think iTunes has a feature like this, although I'm not sure how it works since I always selected "manage my music manually"

That just had four m's. Hot damn.

Musicmatch Jukebox was the way to go. It had all sorts of organizational features for your library. Unfortunately Yahoo took it over and essentially turned the program into adware while removing older versions from download. Since it is freeware, however, it would be legal to use P2P software to download older versions. If you can find Musicmatch Jukebox 9 or 10 (non-Yahoo versions) then you are set.

I miss the good old days... Jukebox was brilliant.

Itunes is your best bet. I use it.

Was just about to post that good old Winamp, it has a "media library" that allows to select an artist or album to a playlist, or put them all in there. I usually keep my library sorted by a year the song was recorded/published.

The only drawback is that you have to keep both playlist and media library open to efficiently manage the songs, so I'm considering changing..

I would go for Itunes. Especially with the new version it's really easy to find a song or an artist. Either with the quick search feature or by clicking 'Artist' and regrouping every artist. You can also do it with the "JukeBox" Style
