I was just looking through some videos relating to railway disasters and I came across this newsreel from British Pathé, circa 1946.

One thing that strikes me about these types of old news reports is the music they use in the background. Apart from being rather odd just by being there at all, am I the only one who finds the choice of music rather inappropriate for the story?

I wonder what the idea was behind this? The music was supposed to add tension or drama but, as seen here, it's just wildly out of place.
