ok, dear all... ive recently stumbled appon a problem of my eyesight getting worse each week, it has come to the time when i cannot read the board in school, i cannot read the sides of dvd cases over a meter from me now, my dream in life is to become an officer in the british paratroopers, and the minimum eyesight specification is the following:

www.army.mod.uk The standard personal weapon is the SA80 and this requires vision in the right eye to be correctable to no less than 6/9. Vision in the left eye must be correctable to no less than 6/36. Spectacle correction must be no greater than -7diopters or +8 in any meridian. Certain types of surgery or laser treatment to correct visual defects are unacceptable and clarification should be sought prior to application.

i have no clue what any of that 6/9 or whatever means, so does anyone know anywebsite or something where i can find out what my eyes are? ok, so i really dont know what to do now, and i most certainly dont want to ware glasses so any help will be very very appriciated thanks

If your eyesight is deteriorating that rapidly you absolutely must go to see an optician immediately.

Eagle One, I must say that my dream in life until recently was exactly the same as yours, Officer in the British Paras... If eyesight is something you think may stop you reaching that... Maybe you should use the PC less often?... Seriously mate, apparently using the PC for more than 2 hours a day causes stress on the eyes that will not do them good at all, and this is probably what's caused it. I think I'm having the same problems :(. Weigh out your values, more PC time or British Para?... :uhm:

You know seeing an optician about the problem might help... Maybe they could prescribe corrective lenses. Oh and if your worried about your PC use effecting them get one of those filters to stick over the monitor they're meant to help a bit.

You know monitor filters, little square things you get that hang down in front of the monitor, they reduce glare and eyestrain.
