DnCBasically, for english class we have to do a 2 minute speech on anything we want but of course theres restrictions. Now remember I'm talking to an audience whom can get a bored as watching paint dry while watching an action movie. The speech constantely needs to be grabbing their attention. Part of that will of course be the way I deliver it and the other part will be the content. I was thinking of doing it on smoking since the ban in public places is approaching. And I can also throw out a load of facts about cigarrettes and smoking in general. Also, bear in mind that I can only have a few visual presentation things like a 2 or 3 pictures. Help!
Damn, 2 minutes is nothing. A simpel solution to your problem is to involve the audience. Ask them questions and see what they think. And then it is of course the most important part. Be well preperd!!!, I can't stress that enough. Remember that the audience can ask any kinds of questions concerning the subjest, so make sure you do your homework before you get up at the stage. Come back when you have to do 35-40 minutes speeches, then I can help you a bit more:nodding:
Righty. Snappy. Charismatic. Well prepared.
For doing a smoking one, involve the audience. Get the small coffe straws, and have people breath through them for about a minute. Ask them what they felt, and then tell them this is what a smoker goes through every day. Then as a final question, ask them if they would like to experience that every day that they smoke.

Try to activly involve the audience. Speeches can be great butin highschool most people wuish to be involved. At the very last try to keep their attention by doing more then just talking. Demonstrate something etc.
Sure smoking would be intresting but it's less original, not a bad topic though. You could always use topics related to hot items such as that port sail (in my opinion, if you have an open market it should be open to all, "even" a company that is "arab" buys it. You could talk about some people being hypocrits etc. praching views aslong as it is in their favour).
You could just intermittently vomit during your speech. That would hold my attention.
Nusentinsainopower point presentation wont hurt. :)
Powerpoints are the most boring thing on this planet.
Anyway, I find that the best speeches are delivered by people who are charismatic and don't care that they look like a total ass in front of all the people watching them... Cracking jokes, making fun, weird hand movements and facial expressions... As for the content, in my opinion, the content isn't as important... as long as you deliver the speech well, people will pay attention. You don't need catchy content, though it is a nice touch... I would probably just go with something that is easy to work with, and that you could blend in funny things with.
Ok. Don't forget I'm quite restricted here. It has to be a speech not a presentation. Thanks for all the advice, I've been jotting it down :)
Do a couple of jokes, always heats up the room.
Thanks for the help guys. I did the speech on Brazil and implemented all your tips and got some laughs and nice round'a plause ;)
Congratz:) Remember, for every speech you make, your skills will improve:)
