Hi all,

I recently had a bity of an accident with a pair of scissors (kinda stuck them through my finger ooooopssssss) and was signed off for TWO weeks on FRIDAY 6th January. Now, my foreman phoned me today and said that my sick certificate ran out today THURSDAY, I make it that it runs out tomorrow on the FRIDAY ie 2 weeks from FRIDAY isssssssssssss a FRIDAY not a THURSDAY. Does this make sense ?? Surely if it ran out on a FRIDAY then according to them I would need to be signed off on a Saturday ??:confused::confused::confused::confused: Can anyone help me here, the DOP and DSS websites are very very vague and don't seem to cover anything about being signed off work only self certification. Oh and also do I need to put a return to work date on my certificate ?? Surely two weeks means two weeks so you just work it out ??

Sorry if this is confusing

If you're in a union call them, they're there for stuff like this :).

I got a medical certificate from my doctor saying I was unfit to work two weeks (not 10 days) from Friday 6th January. I make that as tomorrow being my last day of being signed off ??

Well this thread isn't really getting much further. Either contact your union, double check any related documents or consult any other experts or even a lawyer. Not much we can do I'm afraid. Judging from the replies in this thread I'm afraid I ahve to lock it since it isn't getting anywhere. I give it one more chanche but any posts that don't contain usefull advice will be deleted.
