NEW YORK - Newsweek magazine, under fire for a publishing story that led to deadly protests in Afghanistan, said Monday it was retracting its report that a military probe had found evidence of desecration of the Quran by U.S. interrogators at Guantanamo Bay. Earlier Monday, presidential spokesman Scott McClellan had criticized Newsweek's initial response to the incident, saying it was "puzzling."

I think that the person who wrote this story needs to be taken out and executed. This story was false, and is proven by the retraction, that a copy of the Quaran was flushed down the toilet. How the hell can u flush a book down a toilet?

Good to know that lying in a somewhat respectable newspaper is ok. Hell, it only got 15 people killed....

The Koran comes in many shapes and sizes. Don't some people copy it themselves? As for getting fifteen people killed, there are a lot of things we do that could end up like that, but it's not broadcasted all over the world.

Great. Now why doesn't President Bush retract the Patriot Act that got hundreds imprisoned, or retract the invasion of Iraq that got thousands killed. By the way, the article only mentioned the incident in passing as I recall. The rest of the article was about all the real abuse the prisoners suffered.

This story was false, and is proven by the retraction, that a copy of the Quaran was flushed down the toilet.

They said it was based in fact. But then again thats a press release.:uhm:

How the hell can u flush a book down a toilet?

easy. Just rip it up in flush the pieces down the toilet.Who would be stupid enough to try to fit a book down a tiny toilet drain? Anyways, i would like to see the news story that caused all this.

Friend of the DevilGreat. Now why doesn't President Bush retract the Patriot Act that got hundreds imprisoned, or retract the invasion of Iraq that got thousands killed.
Well you fail to mention that the 'hundreds imprisioned' were not just for the hell of it, and the Iraq invasion was for a reason. And besides, the Patriot Act has nothing to do with this.
Friend of the Devil By the way, the article only mentioned the incident in passing as I recall. The rest of the article was about all the real abuse the prisoners suffered.

That is irrevelent. Just because it was not the focal point does not make it any more the right. This shows newsweek does not give a damn about whats right, only what makes a good story. So they are willing to make stuff up to sell the magazine.

New York Times anyone?
did you think that was intended to cause 15 deaths?

No the intent was to stir up trouble and Anti-War sentiments and get all the liberals saying how bad the US is by showing what the big bad united states does to poor innocent people in the prision.

They made up a line about flushing the Queran down the toilet. Riots break out in Afghanistan that killed 15 people and injured 12 more.

How very sad, do you really know what state the book was in before it got flushed down the toilet. I think this is a true story. It's all part of the Global agenda IMO. :(

Come to think of this, I once had a bible that was no larger than about 1.5" x 1". I find it pretty remarkable, though, that this caused an angry riot and the death of 15 innocent people...they are just very passionate about their culture and very devoted to their religion, in many respects more than Americans are.
