To view/modify NetImmerse3 (NIF3) files, you need 3D Studio Max R3 and NetImmerse from the link above, but to export them, you delete the exporter that comes with NetImmerse and replace it with the 'STBCExporter.dlu' that comes with BC SDK v1.1.

3D Studio Max R3 (And any other version, for that matter) is very expensive software..Look around on Ebay and stuff for used versions, but make sure the hardware lock is included. There is a small piece of hardware that plugs into your printer port (On mine, anyway, some go between the keyboard and computer) that will actually unlock the hardware for you to use the program. Just a safty the company uses to prevent illegal coppying.

Note: The Hardware lock only works with Windows 98 (Doesn't it suck?), so if you have a Windows XP system, and don't have access to a '98 system..it may be hard.

NO , at the moment only some modders (with his own NIF/TGA or 3DMAX converter and they donĀ“t share it....) can convert them from NIF to another format :(!

I have found some interesting facts about nif files while researching nifs.

If you want to learn more about nifs, you might find it helpful to acquire both Freedom Force and MorrowWind games. They both use nifs for terrain,characters,ect... notably they offer 3dmax import export plugins. The freedom force when installed also places on your harddrive graphics with extensions in tga,max,nif... example: there is a folder with a cars graphic in it. the graphic comes in tga, nif and max files. I was able to load some of the nifs for Freedom force into NDLs Sceneimmerse viewer 4.2 , the nif file was a 4.0.0.2 But, the image was without color and I could not see a car...loading the max or tga files in their appropriate applications allowed me to see the car image. What this means is that MAYBE within the Freedom Force and Morrowwind games you might find some of the tools you need to,Freedom Force gets a very detailed editor and I found that MorrowWind seems to talk alot about textures for its game. There is no knowing for sure, but its worth the effort to check it out.

Please note: I was unable to load BC's 3.0 or 3.1 nifs (textures or models) into Sceneimmerse viewer.
