Does anyone know about recovering from depression and anhedonia?

I can't for the life of me remember anything that made me happy in the last 5 years. Like...nothing even remotely satisfying. It seems that the only happiness I find is in memories of happier times or nostalgia. Perhaps it's just the memories themselves, but I fear that I may never, ever find out what it is that will give me a consistent sort of foot hold in mental health.

I can feel colors, so a lot of things are color-coded. For instance, Chemistry is red, Philosophy is green, and Physics is white.

Simply put: red = passion, green = practiced, and white = nebulous and/or...unknown?

Yeah... =p

Point is I could be made an astronaut and never feel much in the way of fulfillment (whatever that is).

Posting in a gaming forum is risky if you are seriously having depression issues, responses are often sophomoric given the age demographic. Nothing wrong with reflecting on good times and being nostalgic, some associative depression is normal and expected. The world is at a crossroads and we have largly become a disconnected, impersonal society given the irony of the technology at our disposal, but seek the simple things in life and look for the good in people/things and moments of tranquility when you can; don't dwell on crap you have no control over. If you really are in a slump you can't shake, confide in people you trust to talk things out and/or seek professional help. If you prefer the communion of strangers to talk sh't through then this is the place, I guess. :lookaround:

To be fair, these forums have never been that bad when it comes to stuff like this.

I personally have suffered with depression a lot, I'm sure some of the oldbies on here will know I've had more than my fair share of ups and down. As I've got older a lot of these problems have gone away. In the last few years I've been good, for the most part.

I can't relate to the anhedonia, I've always been up and down, on my ups everything is great, when I was down, everything sucked, so. I would say that I don't know why my depression has mostly gone away, I would say mainly bad influences in my life no longer being there, lifestyle changes, things like that probably helped.

But either way I hope you sort it out.

Oh yeah, I've had that for some time. It's a weird sort of cycle because instead of a really large, different sine wave you want to get it to a smoother rhythm, but if you do somehow manage that it doesn't satisfy you as much as it used to, despite the shitty bits. Just wish there were some sort of way to rectify it to only produce the positive effects, but that's kind of impossible and philosophically detrimental to the human "soul."

Also: I enjoy electricity references ^_^

Also Also: Like I said, I love you guys and we need to play some games together again. I'm currently studying for exams most days, but I can certainly take time off whenever it's convenient for everyone :)

Sounds good. I wouldn't want to depress you with my hardcore gaming skillz though :p

TBH, I haven't played any videogame since May. Been busy and there weren't that many games that captured my interest. Pretty sure I'll have to give the next Dragon Age a try though.

L4D2 is pretty fun for groups of four, and Team Fortress 2 is free. Can always raid pub servers and win all the rounds and call ourselves the Expendables :p

Currently I do not have a computer which is good enough to play any current games. Still using my laptop from 2008. No room in this apartment either unless I put the computer on the dining table, don't think my recently married wife would like that. =p

Edit: Oh our wedding was much fun, so no depressed feelings here. :)
