What kind of clothes do you wear to the office?

At the moment I'm "semi-casual" - comfortable jeans, t-shirt, shirt and tie. If it's more formal, I'll either wear proper jeans or proper cloth trousers. I rarely have to wear a suit, since I'm an apprentice.

Also, do you like wearing ties? Most of my classmates HATE them. I love them. Something I inherited from my father, I guess :)

www.tie-a-tie.net was really useful in teaching me the basic knots.

I usually wear either trousers and an odd jacket, or a proper suit. Usually with a tie, though I'll forgo that if I'm either late or lazy in the morning.

Nobody on this half of the world would be caught dead in jeans and a tie, though. Awful, awful sartorial faux pas ;)

Really? Interesting. Here it isn't unusual to wear a tie and jeans together.

Yeah, I really have no clue what passes for fashion over there. But over here, the garbage that they pass off as "fashion" seems to currently include semi-distressed jeans (they look like you've had them for a month when you buy them, for about four times the cost of normal jeans ) and tacky "dress shirts" with cheesy shoes. But never a tie :)

I hate fashion. So few people have real style any longer =\

Same thing I wear to school. T-shirt under a pressed white shirt with a silver fountain pen clipped in the breast pocket, pressed black trousers, a plain black leather belt, (silver buckle,) and a tie. Oh and most of the time I'll wear a fleece as well - usually cream of grey. Worthwhile people (not all people) tend to respect you more if you don't look like the dog's half digested dinner.

Same here, that's why I don't really understand how my colleagues can wear leisure clothes to work. Most people don't expect it from apprentices, but I expect it from myself.

Depends with the tie, though. On my first day in a new department I'll go without. If most others are wearing one, I'll do so, if not, then not. Golden rule: Never dress better than your boss.

She wore jeans? I just remember the "trying too hard to do a corrupt schoolgirl" look.
