It means owned, and I onced asked the same question myself. I have my own theory concerning how that word came about:
Observe the keys on your keyboard, and noticed that p stands just to the right of o. It is probably a clumsy spelling error made my so many people that it has eventually turned into more or less of a slang word. Instead of 'owned', people have carelessly become used to spelling 'pwned' instead. :p
No! I'm Spamacus!

Pawn: To sell to a pawnbroker to make money.
Those who use that term tend to be people who are racist in some aspect. Slavery for the most part is illegal in the United States without the consent of the person being enslaved. Most people would rather not be subjected to complete servatude to another human being, so I find it difficult to believe that humans are being legally being sold in pawnshops.
This immoral practice must stop. DON'T PAWN OTHER PEOPLE!
I think its really funny when people pronounce 'pwned' like 'poned.' I mean, wow. Words fail me.
That why I have taken an oath to never let the word 'pwned' leave my mouth. Just, no.
