Hawkeye18z;3623347I knew it would be you!

No, seriously I agree with you. I just drive a humble V6 Probe.. (because fuel is 4 times more expensive over here). Not for the sake of the environment, but for my own sake. Because when I can finally afford a mustang, I want there to be some petrol left.

Hawkeye18zHow about non-fuel burning lawnmowers? Saves gas & will peel the fat off your dimpled butt.

Unless you have a very large area to mow like i do that takes over a hour to mow with a riding tractor... I would rather buy a few dollars of gas then be mowing all day....

I know what your saying though, that mainly applies to people in larger towns and citys, i see some people who have the smallest yards pulling out some of the biggest riding mowers i've seen.

Teaching people how to use a manual gearbox, and how to use it properly, would be a good start.

Yeah, alot of the people i know have no idea how to drive a standard the right way.

Good luck, all the fat lazy Americans in SUVs will guzzle it all down before that happens. Besides, I have a relative with the 6 cylinder version and they only get about 24 mpg. I don't wanna think about the 8's consumption, probably in the teens.

Hence I can't afford one yet.

Sounds about right for a V6 mustang. My car has a 3.8L V6 and i'm probably getting somewhere around 20mpg.

I would think it'd do better, my S/C Grand Prix has 30 more HP than the newest ones sixes and I get around 22-24. Although, I guess the newer ones weigh more. The older ones were around 3000 lbs but I think the newer ones are more like 3500 or 3600? I just know the GT500 is 4000 something, which means it has to be within a few hundred pounds of that.

Hawkeye18z;3622742Thinking of ways for cutting fuel consumtion without really affecting the general public. I know I'm guilty of owning a big powerful fuel eating truck; I only really use it when I need it. I also have a 1953 Willys Jeep that I use for my general running around.

I was thinking that if professional racing of all kinds was stopped that it would save a great amount of fuel and reduce the yearly amount of emissions in the environment.

I know all the garage guys just said, "Blasphemy! Stone Him!"

That's actually a very great idea. Or, at the very least, shorten it a bit. Instead of the Daytona 500, make it the Daytona 10.
