Piercing the veil.

A German student sold his Golf IV for 188.988.88€ over Ebay. What's so special? The previous owner was Josef Kardinal Ratzinger. The student had bought it for about 9.500€ before Ratzinger became the new pope. Yesterday the car was given to its new owner, GoldenPalace.com, in a German tv show. Apparently GoldenPalace has spent about a million euros on curiosity items with religious connotations over Ebay. One of the other items was a grilled cheese sandwich which apparently depicted Mary. Ebay was down temporarily due to the heavy demand of the object, with GP.com's offer being the last one to enter. Other offers were ranging from 260.000€+. The ex-Papamobil is now touring Germany. There's an SMS voting system on GP.com where people can get the car, now adorned by advertising stickers, to visit their city. The pope himself just thought the sale was crazy.
Golden Palace is genious. Where else can you get the news coverage/advertising they have gotten for the little price they paid.
Ja, ich liebe Porsche.

Lord WienerThe pope himself just thought the sale was crazy.
I would not blame him. Perhaps it could be a form of flattery, but I would place no more value on the car than what it's function is worth.
Μαjïç MushrøøMI would place no more value on the car than what it's function is worth.
I told you why they bought it, and the other items. CHEAP advertisement. Their name is all over the news.

possibly. This seems like one of those stories that has one thing that makes it relevant, a guy sells his car to another company/person/church and they pay a whole bunch of money for it...but, its someone's former car that currently has a major stance in this world. Its the same with old celeb things and the like.
