Basically the Government gave First Trains the West Coast Mainline, and they suck. So this is to get them to reconsider giving it to Virgin. I wouldn't ask, but Virgin are massively better and I'm going to be commuting to Manchester daily for Uni this year, so I'm going to be using said train line a lot.

Obviously, this can only be signed by British people.

So, this begs the questions, how does the rail system work in the United Kingdom? It sounds like a public-private partnership?

It's a really crooked system that the last conservative government put in place on ideological grounds. One company (essentially the gov) owns the rails, and private companies bid for the franchise to run the trains on them. But the gov's bidding process is complete horse-shit so.... It goes to the person who can tell the most extravagant lies.

Often the problem with public-private partnerships, meant to give you the best of both and end up giving you the worst. Although, I'd probably be for the basic idea.
