I can't say I automatically respect any profession. I respect a person, an individual depending on what he has done in life. A poor old woodenshoe maker deserves as much respect as the hero who just saved a baby from drowning. Be a good and respectful person and you should be respected.

If you help those around you in any shape or form you are a good person (well probably but it's about the overall picture).

singling out a profession would do unjust to other professions , unjust to individuals and it would also be unjust because of the rotten apples you will find everywhere.

*SW3D3*;3829296Are they fighting for your freedom, on the other side of the world:Puzzled:

If they were to fight an full-scale invasion, then yes I would give you right. But now, no way.........not even close.

I concur. Though if there would be a full scale invasion I would assume everybody would atleast fight to protect their friends and family and all that is dear to them. Note that I'm not saying "fighting for a country" since fighting over a flag is silly. Fighting for you and those you care about is honorable though. But there are more fights to be fought then just on the battlefield...

Anyway if you would force me to pick a profession then I would probably pick the teacher (for education people and all). But as I said, I really don't think you do justice by singling out a profession and it's even rather offensive.

AegenemmnoNBurger flippers.

Well that was an interesting pick, could you elaborate it a bit? Donutz:I can't see how it's offensive to say that I regard some profession as more respectable than other. It makes sense that teacher as profession is more constructive for the society than a burger flipper and like said, we're not talking about individual people here.

I voted nurse, for what they do they are highly underrated and -payed in my opinion.

I also have a high respect for police officers and soldiers/peacekeepers, who work thousands miles away from home, putting their health at risk while trying to help other people.

Well not offensive as in a personal way toward me but offensive in a general way towards various professions:

"sorry doctor/firefighter/... who saved the lives of hundreds of men but I say a teacher has a job I respect more".

I'm aware that by singling out one profession you don't mean that the other's don't deserve any or about at much respect but still. It's kinda like asking a parent to pick their favourit (grand)child.

I’m sick of catering to politically correct bullshit imposed on my likes and dislikes. If people can't deal with the idea that they're not respected as much as some other group of people then they can go drown themselves in river for all I care. Anything you do, anything you like, anything you say, it can all be interpreted as an insult, and it frequently is just because it can be, it's pathetic. 'Oh gods I could be insulted by this, it's so terrible.' Anyone who acts like that isn't worth the time of day.

i'm goona go with nurses and doctors. They have to be in the pressure of deciding if the person in the hospital lives or not and if they work in areas where is gangers, they might revenge to you if a gangbanger has been killed.

I hope nobody actually would be insulted though by picking one over the other. But the picking itself is rather difficult since you have to make a choise between several more or less equal options.
