I recently got a US Legion of Merit Medal, and I wanted to know where the owners name was engraved. I found something barely readable behind the pin of the medal. It says GRACO - GI. I think that must be the name but just to confirm it. So is that the guys last name and does the GI mean General Infantry? Cheers.

Yes GI means General Infantry (I think)...but I'm not quite sure what exactly you're asking.

I want to know whether that this medal I have, has been unissued or whether it has been issued. If it has been issued, it should have a name of the bearer of the medal somewhere on the medal, however I don't know where it would be. After looking at it, I found "GRACO - GI" just behind the pin at the top of the medal. I don't know whether that is just the company that makes them (shouldn't that be the Government though?), or if it is in fact the bearers name. I doubt there are many medal winners in these forums to answer my question, but it's worth a shot.
